The house we moved into recently has a lot of low hedges, some with quite fine leafed plants. It's time to trim them, and I'm wondering if I need to worry about all the waste that is trimmed off clogging up the garden? It's surrounded by Mondo grass, etc. so it won't be that easy to collect it after the trimming is done.

Any tips or suggestions welcome.

Hedge trimmer for sure... just got an awesome one from Bunnings a couple of weekends back. So easy. And then to get all the little leaves etc out of the garden.... a Vac/Blower that will suck (and mulch) all the offcuts easy as. They generally don't pick up the larger rocks or even large bark mulch (if you have it).

English Box Hedge! Round up. If you must treck off to Bunnings to buy a hedger. Electric please.

Don't worry, I'm going all electric. Just built this electric edger from left over RC plane parts. It's frickin' awesome...plowed through overgrown edges like a hot knife through butter and cuts a beautiful fine edge. High torque brushless outrunner motor with switch mode electronic speed controller and pulse width modulated throttle control powered by low impedance high discharge lithium polymer batteries. Works much better than anything you could buy. Ha ha, there was lawn flying 20 feet high, I'm still getting grass seed out of my hair.

Love the safety features like guards to stop rocks flying into you'r eyes

everything besides my Lantana. Sprayed 3 times over, double dose, super strength 450 (not 360) the same Lantana clump.Green us usual. I guess the only goat could be the answer. Both for my Lantana and your hedges.

needs more cable ties, a bit of gaffa and a couple of bent nails for that "I dun it orl by meself" look

A tarp to catch clippings if you don't want it falling on gravel drives or garden beds etc. Sew/tape couple of battens etc into 2 sides, lift n pour into garden waste bin/barrow etc.

Or - don't have a hedge. Looks too hard.

Yeah, not my cup of tea....but the house is 100 years old, classic federation and very well done, even I have to admit they look good in this instance.

Yep, noise. I'm getting tired of the continual buzz of small two strokes all weekend. I remember Don Burke used to call whipper snippers "noise on a stick". And petrol powered leaf blowers...don't get me started on those!

Of course!! The lawn in the new house used to be cut ripped with a petrol mower, so it needs a little TLC, but just a couple of months with the off-road Flymo and it's coming on great guns.

I hate cutting my plumbago hedge and it's now too tall to cut the top. It is very old (100+) and is the actual fence for half the yard.
