I thought I'd start a thread to look back in time at the totally awesome tatts some of us got when they were popular in the fab 90's. A time where you didn't need to serve time in prison to get one.

Here's my contribution. It's on my ankle - it's totally awesome. It's getting hard to see what it was all about - but it's a puzzle piece and has a question mark in the middle of it - how f'cken future proof is that - it has the words TheEnigma underneath - which you can't read, but that's cool in itself.

Heaps of peeps have got kick arse tatts now - tribal and whatever - post em here! Especially chicks who have tattooed sentences, copy and pasted from well read novels.

Great topic being only 24 and without tatts but have many friends covered head to toe with tatts I'm interested to see how this thread continues

Any regrets Oliver? If not why did you not get anymore? If so do you wish you had not gone through with it?

I regretted it the day after I got it. At the time there was a reason for it. It was the end of a six week tour and one of the artists I was touring happened to be tattooed from head to toe in the same pattern. He had the tattoo gun, I was drunk, end of the tour. Now I'm scarred for life.

One of those moments, that is there forever now. Personally, I could have done without this constant reminder. I don't want to remove it as it remains as a valuable lesson that I learnt about myself.

But you guys with your 90s tribal tats, and chicks with your prose, don't let my negativity get in the way - post your tatts and tell us what your tatts mean to you 10/20 years down the track!

I worked with a guy that purchased a gun from eBay and had a go at putting a tattoo on his leg. First attempt was a small gun about 10cm long. He was proud of it - however, he tattooed the trigger back to front!

I didnt get any in the 90s as 1990 was year I turned 15, did lots of other stuff under age but tatts not one part of it. Got my first tatt the tramp stamp at 30 and a year later a small celtic one on right arm. I have vowed 3 things though, never to get dolphins/kids names/ or a rose, also to never get tatts on legs and to never ever cover myself head to toe. I got them for me and have no regrets. Most people dont even know I have them till summer. I worked 4 years before anyone at work knew. In my current job tatts are ok.

I have a few tatts, only got one in the nineties when i turned 18, well nearly 18. i only regret one tattoo, the massive koi fish on my back, takes up 3/4 of my back, i was working overseas, got drunk, mate dared me to get it on my back, so my tattoo mate from the phillipines went to work for 8 hours straight sitting in a construction camp room in new Caledonia. my wife was seven months pregnant at the time and you could just imagine her reaction over a dodgy Internet connection while skyping when i showed her.

never mind, life goes on, I make better choices when sober, hence I don't drink alcohol any more. All my tatts can be covered by wearing a t shirt.

There's an old bird who comes in to work and is covered. TBH, it looks really ****. Imagine if the sleeve turns out to be the modern day tribal band

Years ago beards and tattoos meant someone had a story.. Not anymore

A place to see tatts was the Navy back in the 70s.

There were the fairly common eagles across the chest or back, Mum or the girlfriend on the arms and some even had blow flies on their doodles. There were some others which really took the cake.

A striking cobra coming out of his backside.

Flames coming out of his backside with a devil on one cheek stoking it with coal and an angel on the other cheek with a fire extinguisher.

Then there was the fox hunt. The horses and riders going up his stomach and chest and over his shoulder with the dogs going down his back and the fox's tail sticking out of his backside.

They ^^ must be entertaining a few urologists and nurses these days.

A guy went to have a leak in a public toilet. As he was standing there, a tall Jamaican stood next to him at the trough, and also began to relieve himself. The man looked down and saw the letters 'W' & 'Y' tattooed on the Jamaican's old fella, which by sheer coincidence, where identical to the 'W' & 'Y' tattooed letters that could be seen on his own old fella.

He looked up to the Jamaican, pointed out the matching tattoos, and said "So, you're girlfriend's name is also Wendy?". The Jamaican replied "No, mine says 'Welcome to Jamaica, have a nice day.' "

I read that as Twats....
