I don't get it.

www.perthnow.com.au/news/perth/crown-perth-croupiers-fined-for-running-poker-house-ng-b881055944z

What is the logic in busting these people?
Why the "...long and resource-intensive investigation, which included surveillance of the house."

Is it cause the government wasn't getting a cut?

What do you suppose happens if a person does not pay tax !
Again too if you drove without a license , again too if you were banned !
No need to explain any of it !

Driving without a license is an insurance issue.

Paying taxes applies to businesses, these people were playing a game amongst friends.

The boots must come up really shiny when you lick them.

Somebody not getting their brown paper bags worth one suspects. Reading the article and all the resources put into it, one would suspect the group were running a game the size of the casino itself.

Sounds like there's a big difference between a few boys having a poker night and what these guys are doing. Renting a house for the sole purpose of setting up a gaming pit....? Greedy and dumb.

I'd be surprised it the casino didn't run their own integrity unit and run intel jobs on their own staff. My bet bet is the casino handed a juicy file to Liquor and Gaming and there was an obligation for it to be investigated.

Organised Crime would always be looking for an in at the casinos to launder money, wouldn't be hard to turn a croupier if he got himself into a gambling debt which is probably why they are banned. The casino are thieves without the staff on the take as well.

Pretty simple - its illegal to run any form of gaming where you take a cut / make money unless licensed (casino, bookie, etc)

They were breaking the law, and they well knew it is they rented a house for the sole purpose of gambling. Suggests they made a lot of money.... futhermore croupiers would know the rules. There was no error by them, they knew what they were doing.

They should have added a word "sharing" to their Enterprise, I reckon....
"pocker sharing " ( no gambling license required)...with "drinks sharing service" (no liquor license required )... and voila !.. welcome to gig economy, baby !

Casinos are legal theft on a grand, grand scale.

Wonder who gives them permission to run such a sick business...

Asking for a licence to run a casino is as good an example of rent-seeking as you'll get.
