this is called 'cyclone roulette'

where the hell is it gonna hit.

dale in port douglas asked if we wanted to shelter with him, looks like he's gonna cop it worse than us now.

but who the hell knows.

fingers crossed, lots a rain and wind here now, and we are 300km south of townsville.

all locked up and hiding under a matress......

Looks like ATM it's heading for Lucinda/Ingham area - the highest wind speed readings and the lowest atmospheric pressure so far:

www.bom.gov.au/products/IDQ60801/IDQ60801.94295.shtml

Willis Island recorded 185kmh before the equipment was destroyed:

www.bom.gov.au/products/IDQ60801/IDQ60801.94299.shtml

with the pressure of 938 hpa it must have been very close to the centre of the cyclone which is 922 hpa.

I think inverting the colour of the arrows might be appropriate across the board for that sort of graph.

Proposed new colour scheme (for those who love wind):

0-10: black - as in stay inside and sleep
10-20: amber - as in got to the pub and drink it
20-30: green - get there!
30-40: yellow - as in what will be in your wetsuit
40+: brown - see above ;-)

should replace the red with orange use the red for 50+ knots regardless of graph inversion. generally orange means hazardous red means fatal.
