In the market for a decent swag, requirements have to be:
- must have a decent mattress. Every time I talk to someone about the one they own they tell me that they have had to put extra foam or the like in the swag.
- must be a good size
- obvious other qualities like water proof, zip back top with mozzie mesh....

I have also seen a few put onto the a stretcher to get it off the floor.

Would like to hear others experiences. Cheers.

Swags aren't swags anymore, they are canvas dome tents.

At the cheapest end of the scale are the Adventure Kings range of swags - regularly on sale for under $200. dubious build quality and a materials but they sell thousands of them so maybe they aren't that bad?

I bought my son an ARB Skydome for $550. It's a heavy construction and I already broke one pole trying to lift the swag to move it. All poles were replaced under warranty no questions asked. Looked after he should get twenty or thirty years out of it. I felt the standard mattress was fine the times I've borrowed it.

My mates got a heavy duty wanderer double swag. He has had it for a few years. 8cm thick self inflating mattress. Its heaps better than my cheap xtm one.
It depends what you want though his was nearly $500 mine was only $199. Saying that his has absoultley no issues, mines got rips and busted zips mines also never gone back into the bag it came in. Mines got a 5cm mattress which is a bit thin for most people,it doesnt worry me though.

knotboard is right, swags these days are dome tents. if you want one with pegs and poles and a veranda, buy a dome tent.

if you want a swag thats comfy and you can roll out and sleep in with max 30 seconds set up time, buy a swag

comfort is a factor of how thick the mattress is. comfy swag is a compromise on how big the thing is when rolled up, and how good a nights sleep you want. I've got 75mm king single size. its massive with a doona and a pillow in it but i sleep well. I figured it will always fit the back of the ute so why worry about the size. A good decision as i've been using it regularly for over 15 years (work and surf trips very regularly) and i still sleep like a bug in a rug.

Mine is AOS (Australias own swags) but theres plenty of other good ones.

One thing i highly recommend is a mossie net on the end of the thing, good for mossies, but particulalry good for piece of mind knowing its closed up when not in use so no snakes or redbacks have crawled into the thing when not in use

Got wanderer swags myself 4 of them. Haven't had an issue and used mine a fair bit ... mattress good. Spent a week camped behind the shearer's shed you were living n Exmouth if ya remember. Lol. Still got the same one. Went camping with the boy out back near Logue brook dam this winter in torrential rain (heavy rain all bloody night), didn't get wet. Spend 4-500 can't go wrong.
