Went to Spudshed tonight and the total came to just under 17 dollars.
I pulled what I thought was a 20 dollar note out of my pocket but t it turned out to only be a five dollar note.
I said to the teller to serve the girl next to me and I will hopefully find enough loose change in my car
When I got back the girl was just leaving. The teller then said to me he has to put all my groceries thru again as there was some confusion between my payment and her payment. I just said ok.
A minute passed and the girl returned whilst I was counting out the loose change to pay. I then heard her remark to me she will pay the difference if you are short - to which I joked that would be nice. She must have thought I was serious

She then had a short discussion with the teller and then she walks off a touch annoyed - and the her last comment to him was 'so I am paying for everything'?
For whatever reason I did not cotton on to her comment.
I was going to ask the teller how much extra did she pay but I got distracted by something. I was thinking a dollar or two and she could not be bothered to wait for the teller to sort the confusion out.
When I finished packing my groceries away I handed the guy the 17 dollars and he told me after quite a bit of explaining that she had paid for the BOTH of us.

I dropped everything and hobbled my way as fast as possible to the carpark.
She was reversing her SUV and I had to shout / scream to her to stop her leaving.
Only made it by 5 seconds or so.
I tried to explain I had no idea but she said just give me what you can afford
Anyway,I gave her the 17 dollars so she ended up making a 35 cents profit.
Very relieved to put it mildly. She was early twenties Maori girl with either too much money or a good heart.
