Firstly what sort of sicko does this?
Does he own a blueberry farm??
Is it a disgruntled underplayed foreign worker/workers??
Is it a conspiracy??
Is it a group of people an individual or cooperation.

Profiling:

Who would benefit from this ? Other fruit growers? No , now some other fruits have been contaminated apples and a banana??

Surely some of these are copycat ??

This is the sort of stuff that leads to food shortages in future as farmers go broke

I am not eating strawberries at current and whilst it may seem heartless the cut it up before eating campaign isn't going to fly in my house with three kids.......

I worry that it's not just the fact the needles are in the fruit but it is the whole psychology of them being tampered with by someone willing to do this.

what else are they doing to the fruit??????

The doctor uses bananas and cucumbers in a way that's not fit for human consumption afterward

How many of the cases are people attention seeking? I mean you buy a packet of strawberries take it home add a needle and call today tonight, call a lawyer, call the supermarket etc

Call me a cynic but when it starts to happen after the news coverage of the first one I lean towards this plenty of sickos willing to fake they have cancer or even poison their own kids with meds for their 15 mins and now gofundme page.

I can't figure out how the needle was there before the strawberry was cut. Or did they find the needle, took it out, cut and put it back? There doesn't seem to be corresponding exit hole..

I'll throw another angle in based purely on economic motivations, and by no means am I saying it's true but it is plausible.

- There's a glut of strawberries in the market and a producer might struggle to get a break even price
- The producer has adequate insurance coverage

Might you be motivated to contaminate your own strawberries?

The whole issue needs a bit of perspective... I heard on the wireless this morning that there have bee 3 strawbs found contaminated, out of the 80 something thousand punnets distributed daily.... (that might be just Sydney). Cant help but feel that the excessive media attention is solely responsible for the spawning of attention seeking copycats...

Yep, it could be very much like that. Sort of like James Bond - Tomorrow Never Dies, where the media mogul makes his own news ........... just like CH9

You've gotta love the QLD government reaction too, strawberries are supposedly a $160m industry for the state and it's looking like a good portion of this year's revenue will be written off so the government announces a $1m fund to help, it just doesn't seem enough to me.

I think they meant in just Sydney then as WA has had it also

Given the removal from sale that then has to occur its pretty damn major for growers

STOP PRESS!!!

EMERGENCY LAW TO BE PASSED TOMORROW!!!

Apparently the current maximum penalty for food contamination, 10 years gaol, was not enough to deter the criminal, so it will be increased to 15 years.
This has happened ONCE since forever. What's the point?

Could be someone is trying to buy up farm land?
Destroy a market, send farmers broke, suddenly the land is up for sale, cheap.

Before we know it, all fruit will be sealed in tamper proof packaging. More cost, and more waste.

So after they banned plastic bags this has happened now need to wrap everything in more plastic.
Harrow you have solved it, it is the plastic bag manufacturer.

I actually read today that they suspect underpaid workers ,,,, whilst this was my first suspicion I'm thinking the plastic bag manufacturer still has a hand in this

Could be conspiracy similar to the "Fight club"..do you remember what Tyler Durden did to the food when working as underpaid waiter
"He farted on creme brulee; he sneezed on braised endive; and, with creme of mushroom soup, he ... he ..."

BTW the food delivery business is booming and their workers being ripped off and exploited..

I wouldn't touch it
