I am curious as to why when low on points (halfway there, anyway) and you need a licence for work you are doing 39 over the limit

10 over, accident (or you know the cameras go off at 12 or 14 etc lol)
20 over, late and having trouble doing only 10 over
39 over - strewth.

isn't the idea of the system is you lose your licence now, and then you'll understand the idea of consequences and don't speed again?

theres E plates for drink drivers.. surely there would be something like that for when you speed too?

the delivery driver at my work got hired while he was on E plates... dont know what my boss was thinking with that one...

I'm not sure you should be so quick to judge.

In Victoria I lost my license for a month for being over 20km/h over the speeding limit - it wasn't anything to do with how many points I'd acquired previously. It's a mandatory thing.

Where I was fined, I cannot see that the speed I was traveling at was in any way unsafe. We are talking about a speed camera set up about a km out of a small country town where the limit was 50km/h, been caught there before - very sneaky IMO.

The placement of this particular camera was designed to catch people leaving town. Speed cameras are the new stamp duty for State Govt. It's much more of a revenue raising thing than a safety thing. Just as gambling addiction is less of a problem for state government than the short term money it raises for them.

In saying that, I have only a few points left, I hardly watch the road anymore - far too busy looking between the hundreds of speed limit signs on the road, cars that are suspiciously parked on the side of the road and my speedometer - it's a f'ckn joke.

you maybe able to get your license back on a good behaviour bond (one more mistake in 12 mths and you lose your license for twice as long). But now its at court you maybe need to consult some legal advice as to the best way to show the court that you need a license for work - e.g: business evidence etc

I would say good luck but if you are 39km over and being a goose on the road I have little sympathy. Do the crime do the time I think they say and its hard for me not to agree.

Maybe next time you could re-word it to show that you actually understand the error of your ways a little more.

I have been caught by a " Transport Roads & Maritime Services" safety camera undertaking cars. Doing 109 in a 70 zone. The letter i received says i have to appear in court. Any help or advice apart from the obvious of not speeding again would be great!!!!!!

Nup youre gone, cause your 35 km over. In NSW, Automatic suspension for 3 months and 5 points and i think a pretty hefty fine. You're an idiot but you already know that, maybe losing your license is a better lesson than killing yourself or even worse some innocent person.

As for keeping your license! Doubt it would work in your case and I'm Not sure if it works anymore but you used to Be able to over pay the fine by a small amount, usually $1 and the Rta won't issue a cheque refund for such a low amount, therefore the fine doesn't get closed off and it causes a delay in you're points being deducted, used to take months for them to sort it out.

110 in a 70 zone is inconsiderate and stupid, I make a point of not helping inconsiderate and stupid people...

The points thing is probably a pretty good system - at least that's fair. The fines I think are unfair - it's not as if they are using the revenue to make our roads safer. If they were, we would have autobahns with unlimited speed limits like we do in the fatherland.

Difficult to argue with people who've lost loved ones due to speed. Ultimately youngbull is right.

I have been lucky enough to do 309km's on a r6 bike and 311km's on a TL1000r both at willowbank raceway.
I have a dirt bike. I can wheelie, speed, go friggen mental in the bush ( reg trail bike )
I have a 4wd to scare the bejusus out of me when I do big red at Glass House Mountains.
If I could sell adrenalilne I would be rich and not one bit is produced from speeding on the road.
I'm not gloating just saying there are so many thing in life that let you have endless fun and at YOUR own peral not others.

To the few that know the look of flesh 3 day's later at a police holding yard blended into a car is something you will never never ever forget + the smell. It will change your life. Sounds like you need to think about your's - starts with your attitude.

As a SES volunteer that has witnessed first-hand the damage & repercussions on the families involved...I won't join in with a lecture.

All I can say (as I'm assuming that you're a good guy that did something dumb, and luckily, this time, no-one was hurt) is to be honest with the judge. Explain that you realise you made a bad mistake due to work pressures and in the split-second, it was too late...and also that you need your license for your work. You might get a suspended sentence or limitations (at best).

As mentioned, get your solicitor to put it together. At worst you will lose your license and look at it as a lesson learned.

What does that have to do with speeding?
Surely that's driver training.
Maybe he/she was using their mobile, playing with the GPS or radio.
Given the damage to the car, I'd say it was a slow impact <60kmh.

I see people every day racing SilverStone and Philip Is @ average speeds of 180kmh with no ill effect.

There should be no reason for speed limits of 70kmh on a 3 lane highway with no intersections.
I think 180kmh is reasonable for a highway with no intersections... it's a LIMIT
120kmh for dual lane not built up area.
60kmh for residential/built up areas.

What do we have? Freakin variable speed limits every where.

And fining people for being UNDER 10km/h is just insulting. Humans can run at 42kmh... speeding should be over 20kmh and the very minimum.

Also FYI: the R6 doesn't do 309Kmh nor does the TL, my tricked out R1 wouldn't even go over 290kmh... real speed 278kmh.

Ive heard in WA they have gone for a double or nothing idea. Havnt heard much about it but seems like a good idea.

FYI Flysurfer: r6 was highly moded as the TLR. As for an R1 not doing 300 and it was moded - you don't know how to ride. or know the facts.
I have witnesseses an r1 on the back wheel at 220km and your saying they wont reach 300 pffff.... whatever.....

And how has that got any relevance to speeding on shared roads? Peter Brock comes to mind.

That was a closed road for the rally.
