First board was a Morey Mach booger i bought in high school.

First car was alright. Not a real sti, i just scored a genuine sti spoiler and front bar at some stage. Slow by today's standards but went ok 15 years ago.

One of my kids just said " Why is Mike doing the teapot dance? You know the one - I'm a little teapot, short and stout, here is my handle and here is my spout..." ( Nothing burns you like a teenage daughter! )

My first two coincided as well. Escort was a great car but didn't take kindly to the salt water and was starting to die a slow rusty death when I sold it. The board was a Blake Spirit, a decent longboard made in NZ that pre-dated the Mistral One Design.

Yep the escorts were great to drive, I loved my van, but it to had rust problems.

Hey Lotowind here is a drawing of me on my first board unfortunately cameras were not around in those days, I have left it black and white as I know little kids like you love to colour in. Post up when your done and don't worry about keeping in the lines you young ones all get a gold star these days so your feelings don't get hurt.

Was the rust just in front of the rear window, on the C pillar? It seemed to be the case on 2drs and 4drs. They used this stupid sealant that definitely trapped water, as every escort I have seen had rust bubbles coming up there. There was also a spot in the cowling in the engine bay where the heater fan went, and water would pool there.

I had great fun in an escort. I changed the 1600 to a 2 litre, and unfortunately changed the diff from a 1600 version to a 1300 version. It went very fast, but it was noisy as it was doing some ridiculous RPM at 110km/h. Good fun, but too noisy in the end.

Rust was in the rear of the sills and the spare wheel well. When it started coming through I just kept slapping surf stickers over it to hide it all.

First 3 boards, I've been around for awhile, 1966'ish, all from local shapers in San Diego, California.
