I try to avoid apps as I believe they are easily hacked.
Am I wrong and apps are a benefit to the user??

I thought apps were more secure, banks etc seem to want you to use their app rather than a web browser.

I found this

, apps can be a high risk and pose a number of security threats:
Malware: Some apps contain malware that can infect your device.
Data collection: Apps can collect personal and professional data, such as your name, address, browsing history, and social media activity. This data can be used for identity theft, cyberstalking, and other malicious activities.
Encryption: Apps may not always adequately secure or encrypt the information they send and receive.
Permissions: Apps may access personal or confidential information on your device as part of the permissions you granted when you downloaded it.
Hidden trackers: Some apps may contain hidden trackers that can track your online activity.
Local storage: Apps often store sensitive data locally, such as PIN numbers, credit card numbers, and passwords, which can be stored insecurely.

Depends on device. Apple is better at limiting what developers can do and requiring to disclose it - for the seabreeze app, that is coarse location, device ID and advertising data usage (the device ID is used to link advertising data to provide targeted advertising).

it also hasn't been updated in over 2 years, which can be a security concern.

The privacy policy for the app and the site are the same - www.seabreeze.com.au/PrivacyPolicy and is reasonable.

So it seems that there no benefits for the user.

I agree
SB has worked for me on chrome and safari on at least 4 phones and just as many PCs and laptops

see no need to download an app

however all those warnings about what some apps might have - nahhhh
if there is any app I would trust its SB
