Most pubs in the pilbarra close at midnight, as the barman starts ushering everyone out and we are all loitering.
I bust out into loud drunken happy birthday song.
All the lads i work with join in (generally twenty/thirty odd )and generally after a big job some one will pipe up cheers guys thanks how did you know......
Than one more drink chant goes down, the barman rolls their eyes and goes alright alright.
This works at least 80 percent of the time, the lad whose birthday it is or was that day/yesterday is stoked cause hes working away from all his mates/family and someone remembered. We did it once and one of the boffins that ran the mine said thanks lads and bought the whole place a round...

When I was about 5 years old, my older brother used to get me to put a few teaspoons of dirt into each aluminium can before her crushed them. Probably added 50% to what he got from the recycling center. At the time I had no idea what was going on.

kiteboy dave said..Every kid that liked video games would work that place, I'd be there and see other kids using a thin plastic ruler, a spark device, a coin on a string. There were other old machines you could just kick and get 99 credits.

I was the kid with the spark device. I'd have it in my pocket and thread the wire down the coin slot. I was always terrified that it might get me in the goulies.

Our recycling centre wouldn't take anything crushed and they shook a few cans at random

Ha ha - you guys wrestling with "grey areas" in your sense of right and wrong. It's clear as day, black and white: if you pull these kind of stunts some-one some-where suffers for your little victory.

Life's better when you play with a straight bat.

I used to glue a 20c piece inside each aluminium can to make them heavier.
No need to crush them and nothing to rattle if they were shaken.

Why pay foxtel $50+ p/m? When you can get more ad free content from Netflix and watch what you want when you want to watch it - for less than half the price.

Not illegal, just unregulated. Who are the scammers and who are the victims, sheepies?

While I was in college I scored a job working in Expo 88. Employees were given a pass to get into site but mine wasn't ready so they gave me a typed note with my name and date written on. A couple of dabs of liquid paper and the college photocopier and all my mates enjoyed free entry for about a month until they got suss.

A mischievous mate of mine used to do the "money go round" many years ago before the banks got smart requiring ID etc.

He would open a cheque account at as many banks as there were on a minimal deposit, say $10.

Then he would deposit $200 cash in one of the accounts and write a cheque from that account and deposit into the next account, then from it to the next account and so on.

When the $200 had gone around the accounts two or three times and obviously cleared he would cash a $200 cheque at each of the banks on the same day.

Six banks, $1,200 gross for an investment of $200. If you hit one of them twice you might get the initial $200 back.

Scam?

COLES will pay $11.25 million in fines and costs but could end up paying more than double that refunding its suppliers, after a court agreed to the supermarket giant’s settlement with the competition watchdog.

More than 200 suppliers will now potentially be able to seek refunds from Coles over extra payments that were demanded to fill gaps in profit, related to Coles squeezing suppliers when it felt it had not made enough of a profit on products for various reasons such as poor sales, discounts or waste.

...........Does this indicate Coles making up for half price groceries or just ripping off suppliers

That's what you think.
I only put in one 20c per can, but I'd get 60c per kilo!

That one never failed me:

Did it a few times at bunning, got a BBQ wireless meat temp sensor. Stopped working. Went to buy a new one, kept the receipt and went back to the shop after 2 weeks with the buggered one saying "I bought it couple of weeks ago and stopped working" I want a refund as it is a bit crappy! They refunded it everytime... did it with a electric edger and few other items! Warranty that goes for ever!

For a start how would you fit a 20c coin into a can...without cutting it

Here's what I think, if I was that way inclined to even bother.
i think I would of gone with my grandads lead fishing sinkers.
grandad was a plumber and made his own free stinkers from old lead found on jobs.

Free lead Vs 20c coins.

i use my powers for good not evil.

Apparently it's OK if you steal from Woolies, Coles etc.

I'm not sure where you draw the line. Will someone elaborate?

That's no good, it's too hard getting a consistent weight with lead sinkers, whilst 20c coins are all uniform and pretty much made for purpose.

What I think a few of us are having trouble with is that you are putting a 20c coin in at least one can, and getting 60c a kilogram for the resulting aluminium cans and the 20 cent coins.

So, unless your 20 cent coins weigh more than a third of a kilogram, how does that stack up?

I worked at bunnings in Highschool, and had a memo go out about a scam that was repeatedly catching a few of the staff members out. Someone would come in the front door and pick up something like a display hedge trimmer or a chainsaw then take it to the service desk and complain that it wasn't working properly and that they had since lost the receipt and thrown the box out. A cash refund would usually be handed over on the spot and the 'faulty' item kept to be sent back to the manufacturer.

This happened quite often!

not something Im overly proud of but when ordinary tomatoes were super crxp at woolies (in the old days)
I used to pull the vine ripened ones off the truss and bag them so they looked like ordinary ones (they way they told the difference was the stems)
also if the parsely bunches were a bit anorexic I'd pull one bunch out of it's plastic outer garment and stuff it in with the other one.
pretty bad I know. Many years ago.

When cable tv first started the signal was inverted. By running the cable though a tv card in your puter and just inverting the signal anyone was able to get full access to free cable tv. Then one night they changed the system and encrypted the signal. The forum instructing the scammers went down that night. People are still scamming cable tv using smart card readers purchased at jaycar. But is too complicated for me. Besides, I thought cable was crap, even when it was free.

Hmmmm interesting topic

Tradies ute full of tools
Drive in trade entrance
Get the apprentice to go tool "shopping"
Give him a list cause they're all useless nowa day

Load tools into ute boxes
Buy half dozen sleepers
Couple sheets of ply that need to be cut
to distract Tradie counter guy
Spend couple hundred on timber
five finger couple Grand in tools

I hate bunnings
With a passion

Woolies self serve yourself meat at the by weight price of potatoes.

Once saw a lovely coffee coloured cousin walk out of a bigw with a trolley filed with atleast half a dozen flat screen tv's
Straight out through the entrance like he owned the place

Overheard one employee say to another
"Don't even bother, it's not worth the effort"
