As an event videographer / editor i oftenend up with lots of crew kindly offering me footage of cool things that happened- which is great:

" i got this great shot of a bike falling over / comments from an athlete / something amazing"

which can be handy except SOOOOO often this happens.

we've all seen the punters shooting vertical video at concerts- please make it stop!

Spread the word..

You should run for the Senate on this platform alone, Reflex!
You'd certainly have my vote!

I somewhat surprised a few phone manufacturers haven't rotated the camera 90 degrees in their phones. Sure, it won't match the screen but is that really a massive issue? It's not to me and it's annoying holding your phone sideways...which I always do because I also can not stand vertical video or pictures for that matter!

I'm surprised that there's no quick fix like you can rotate photo's. There are way's of doing it but it's a PITA.

I've never understood why every tool with and iphone can't hold the thing horizontally when they take photo/video.

It's right up there with uploading video in a dodgy aspect ratio - I can't tolerate it, and won't watch anything squashed or elongated looking.

Easy solution...

phones for phonin.... buy a ****** camera.
Why record memorable events on a substandard device?
Modern way - Need a top end TV and DVD at $20K even though have no interest in AV or understand any AV tech.
But record life changing moments on crap camera in a phone.

:/

What gets me is why film an event on your bloody phone instead of just watching it ???
All those people are watching their screen to make sure they have it in the frame, whilst not even looking at the real thing !!!
Same thing with concerts.... nuts....

it gets out of control this "i must document this event mentality" - and you can bet that 99% of the images taken dont get used for anything - and eventually deleted to make room on the phone for more pictures and video that wont get used.

i certainly have been guilty of this in the past...

at weddings now i advise clients to advise their guests to put away their cameras - there will be professional photographers and videographers that will make your shots redundant - and this also allows all the guests to be in the moment.

You will find that we will evolve - in Japan for example there are well followed protocols for use of mobiles - so you dont get the "tradie walking around shouting into his phone effect" - trains are also no go zones for mobile use -it works well.

Hopefully the same will happen with iphoneography

But when you get that one in a million shot when the bride slips over and reveals no knickers, then who's the king?
