Living 600 kms from safety bay its still blindingly obvious to me that if you dig a big hole at the end of a spit caused by longshore drift. the hole will fill in rather fast. . that area always had a sandbar back when I was a tacker in our tinny(mid 70's). the more they stuff with it the faster it grows.. at least the powers that be are,nt just sticking their head in the sand over something that isnt actually a problem

if you go back to the earliest govt maps the shoreline extended out to penguin island(not an island)and the coast ran north to pt peron. there was an inlet over where the townsite is now. even shoalwater bay was land

The sand bar on the back of pond seems to have doubled in size and appears to be curving much more north than previous years, was just a spin out having not been there for a while
