Anyone watch the Rugby tonight at Lang Park?

The Wallabies made the Irish side look very ordinary - and the Irish side is the best it has been maybe ever.

Would be good to see Rugby make a comeback in Australia

I just watched the replay of aus v Ireland at suncorp, must have been a different game to Lang park as the Irish played bloody tough good rugby and can hold their heads high.

PS, never knew the game ever left Australia in the first place

Trouble with Union is it's dull as dishwater to watch; especially to people in eastern states who have been benefiting from the far more exciting Rugby League for decades.

The simplicity of League certainly appeals to the masses. Get the ball, run, get tackled. Repeat 5 more times and kick. Easy to understand, easy to play and easy to watch.

Whilst I understand it can be hard to grasp the complexity of the Rugby game for some, anyone who thinks that game against Ireland was dull needs to perhaps look at upping their dosage of Retalin.

Great performance by the Irish in Melbourne. The Aussies didn't front up like they did in Brisbane.

Couldn't agree more. When I moved to Aus I got into NRL and picked Manly as my side. It is exciting because it is fast and there is alot of action, but it is also bloody repetitive. Rugby has so much more variation to the game, the kicking game more nuanced and intelligent players make a massive difference.

I just don't understand w soccer supporters watch a game for 80mins or however long for the result to be a nil all draw? Serious? They should make the goals twice the width, then the game would be a spectacle.

Not the best series decider I have ever seen. The rugby didnt quite flow, it could have went either way but Ireland squeezed home.
Best crowds at the rugby that Australia had seen for a few years. Maybe Ireland should come every other year?

Unfortunately rugby is a dying game killed by the people administering it.

Everything about it Is slowly being destroyed.

The rules, the application of the rules, the spectacle, video umpire.... even at a junior level it's been destroyed. Rugby schools with 7 teams per grade are now struggling to field two while basketball and soccer are flooded with players - some up to 8 teams per grade.

With the states all but calling GPS schools the "official pathway" to play professionally they have destroyed the rugby culture of these schools and ruined the historical club pathway system which is where the pathway should be. By pushing any potential stars through GPS schools on scholarships (at the expense of kids training for years in hope to make their school 1st XV) all these idiots have done is made a small pond for the league clubs to fish from and give rookie contracts to secure players - all on the ARU dime.
Meanwhile the students are turning away from rugby to pursue other sports because they know they will get replaced by scholarships come grade 12. And the lesson to the kids is ????

and let's not forget the flood of Polynesians into east coast junior rugby with questionable dates of birth looking like adults running around amongst the 10 year olds - holy crap !!! No wonder mommy prefers her kid playing soccer !!

That only applies to Australian rugby Union although the South African administration appears to be in the same league. The ARU could not have done a better job at screwing things up had that been their actual goal.

Losing vast numbers at the junior level means there's less left to choose from at a senior level.

QRU allows kids to be selected for qld and Australian schools teams that have already signed NRL contracts. Could this be the stupidest thing an official could ever do ????

AFL and NRL have their pick of games on the weekend but I would rather watch good game of union but really don't want Foxtel just for that

I used to watch Super 12s religiously but haven't watched a game now for probably four years. It's got so convoluted.

The New Zealand Rugby Union, and Australian Rules, found a winning formula to promote themselves and simply repeat.

The ARU found a losing formula and simply repeat. It's consistent!
