As someone who was incredibly lucky - I am just upright again after severely fracturing my spine on the mtb - I have extreme sympathy for Martyn Ashton.

He certainly pushed the boundaries.

During my convalescence, I got a lot of inspiration from this:

Why???? Did the word bike in the title and the picture above not give it away?

According to comments on BikeRadar at least one of the riders now has a broken back. Don't know if it was a wheelchair type break or not

pretty sure Danny MaCaskill has been battling back injuries for years.

dunno about the other blokes- but with the amount of spills they must have- injuries must be regular.

Dude was this just recent? I didn't know. Glad your not in a wheelchair. How and where did it happen?
I fractured my back at the beginning of the year and was very lucky to be walking within 3 months.
Bloody mountain bikes hahaha. Haven't learnt my lesson though. Back on the iron horse YEOW!

I visited a weird off beat museum (of sorts) this year on the Island of Skye-Scotland.

Turns out it is Danny MaCaskill's fathers Museum - I didn't know what was weirder the Museum or Danny's father.

Nah 4 months on now. A couple of months flat on the back on the bed in the living room, then a progressive return to being an upstanding citizen.

Still unable to do anything serious but. I hope to be able to get the sup out for a light sail shortly.

It happened while racing XC (luckily, as there was medical help on hand). Got a stick or something jam the front wheel. One minute I am cruising along. Next I wake up in the ambulance. Thank god for helmets.

Bloke I met today told me of his new purchase - a Cannondale CF roadie - with full electronic gear shift. So accurate, so tight in the gearing... Bike is 7.8kg or so, incl, rechargeable battery for the gear changes. Battery lasts 1000 hours between charges!

Some indoor fun on a BMX(?) - www6.vitaminl.tv/?tdfs=1&kw=video&term=Standard%20Server%20Colocation&term=HD%20Server%20Colocation&term=4K%20Server%20Colocation&backfill=0

Not a truer word spoken, I know many people whinge and bitch about having to wear a helmet but personally I am a huge believer in them. I cover about 300kms a week on my push bikes and came off just a while back. Stupid lack of attention and not doing anything serious at the time - just rolling at about 20kmph, as my concentration waned, I clipped the curb. Next thing I know I am heading towards the ground and was completely unable to stop my head rebounding off the curb. Bar a bit of bark off down one side, cog incisions in one ankle and my helmet shattered in three places, I was able to complete my ride home. Thinking that the outcomes of not wearing a helmet could have been a lot more significant and could have left me eating soup through a tube.

All the best on a full recovery Marvin.
