Now I find out that it is a $5000 tax deduction, Oh well not too bad will still save a couple of thou on my new ute. Then I read that this will not come int effect until 2012/13 tax year.
Why bother you idiots, [}:)][}:)][}:)]
How about getting this years right before you move into the next.
Sorry car dealers

. You are going to have to wait another 14 months for my dollars.
So you are upset that a tax cut/rebate you will benefit from in the future has been announced?
I can't take advantage of it. Should I be outraged that you can? Bloody politicians! They never get it right so that only I benefit!

Sadly, I think politicians take too much notice of approval polls, but I think this is because the media push this so much. Unfortunately mud sticks, so to ignore polls is probably not wise either...
FN, anything stopping you from working for yourself so you can take advantage of it. Or just personal choice. Which we all have.
Sorry, I was joking about the outraged bit. I was trying to point out that
you are going to get a benefit, so why are you bothered by it? It looks like the glass is half full from where I sit.
I think the government is between a rock and a hard place as they have to deliver a surplus to keep the opposition off their backs, as well as trying to deliver benefits to the public as well. If they deliver a deficit, they get canned. If they deliver a surplus, they get canned.
For what its worth I could probably take advantage of it as I have a business and do work for myself. A lot of people in my line of business use a car as a deduction, but not for me.
I have to say I have taken next to no notice of the budget. The only thing that I heard that sounded interesting was the tax breaks on cars based on the distance traveled. I have worked with guys that have taken long driving trips for holidays just to get a tax benefit as they needed to get into the next distance bracket. It seems a crazy thing to reward someone for.
