It's a good topic but was spoilt by an obvious prejudice and un-balanced view of the media coverage under fire. Kind of shoots itself in the foot by complaining media is under fire for prejudice, but does this through an unbalanced coverage. Right or wrong there was other coverage with different views and that should have been shown as well. It may well have even aided thier points.
Sounded more like an anti trump rant than an actual story on media bashing.
I get that media needs to be free to cover stuff, but I also don't get how police are supposed to know who the hell is accredited media and who is some activist with a camera just saying "I am media, just pass on by....i'll film here behind your back."
The Sunrise crew were unmarked and hiding behind a wall so the police didn't see them until they were on them. I don't condone the physical violence but they were in a pretty dumb spot. I would not be surprised if the cop that hit the cameraman reacted thinking he had a weapon. Old mate with the baton on the reporters back might have had a few hard questions asked afterwards though. I think the element of surprise might have been over by then. I note she complains about tear gas and rubber bullets but it was confirmed later they were never used.
I always thought reporters in situations like that were well marked and known and cleared by the authorities to observe. Seems like every man and his dog with a good phone and a mic can call "media" whenever things get dicy. I don't blame the cops for not giving a crap who they are.
