So over the years I've tried many times & many things to give up smoking & even recently tried hypnotherapy but I've now found the sure fire way to quit .
Fall off the ladder & shatter both heals so you can't walk & then as there's no smoking in hospital you have to give up .
I'm going to be lying here for a couple of weeks Waiting for the swelling to down before I can have surgery & I'm trying the life of Brian approach and trying to look on the bright side of life

Just think of the toys you could buy with the money you could save.
Sorry to hear of the fall, glad you can see a positive.

Well done on your latest attempt. Please be sure not to direct any negative energy/anger toward your nurses.

Apparently price hiked another $10 /pack this week !
Guy I work with is almost $300 per week poorer due to his smoke habit, then complains he is battling to pay his mortgage .
Good time to quit and enjoy breathing again I say !

I think you just need to see an emphysema sufferer. It's truly horrific. My old man could barely manage to walk a few metres in his last years.

Anyone who still smokes in this day and age knowing what we know now is dumb a f or weak a p !!!

I used to, it took several attempts for to me kick the habit, but back then , I had yet to see anyone suffer from a smoking related illness.

An old school mate of mine died a couple of months back. Double lung transplant. Half his stomach removed and both legs just below the knees. He started off with Nelson. Not sure that brand even exists these days.

Stick with kicking the habit or you might live to regret it and that's worse than dying quickly from it .

I would never ever direct negative energy at anyone let alone nurses .
Who I think do an absolutely amazing job .
I'm sure when I go they will think of me as one of the most polite people they have ever meet.
And it really doesn't matter how much pain I'm in I can always see a funny aspect I've given a few chuckles to them .

Life was a little different after my brother's suicide. I was not my usual self. A decade of smoking ensued. That ended a decade ago when I decided new years was the day. I smoked about two packets that day.

Tried the Allen Carr book?
I had an ex who was a chain smoker all through college (American) and life after, and she stopped by using that book and swore by it. Lived years in SE Asia after surrounded by cheap ciggies and never started again.
Have heard it's not for everyone though.

Sounds like a huge challenge for some people. All the best with it, and with your other recovery. Pairing them up seems smart to me ?? just dont get an icy or a codiene habit instead!!!!

Im off to bunnings to buy a ladder.
Will a six foot set of steps be enough to quit? Or do I need to buy an extension ladder cause Im a really heavy smoker.
Good luck mate on the quitting and the recovery. I have heard smoking is harder to give up than heroin,
but heroin is probly cheaper to buy now.

Pairing recoveries really is a goer. Mate broke his neck and gave up drinking to aid his recovery. His neck's fine now, still not drinking and he looks like an Adonis.

Bugger, I did a similar method by breaking my back. 20 yrs later I still don't smoke and it's the best injury I've ever had. Good luck

3 days, 3 weeks, 3 months, 3 years - these are good goals for giving up.

Always a 'displacement pleasure' - as noted, spend the money you save on a reward. For me it was mtb ing- whenever I felt like a ciggie I got on my bike - didn't feel like one for hours after.

Finally, I've given up for 25 years, but I still consider myself a smoker. That persona is however locked away behind 6 feet of concrete and steel in my mind. A bit creepy I know but a useful mentation to avoid ever slipping back.

Good luck. You are not weak as puss...smokers are not weak as puss.

Lots of mentally Ill people self medicate with nicotine.

Can always try vaping. I've spoken to heaps of people who have done it this way

Yeah, its not a pretty sight! I hope you are finding enough things to do to keep you from getting bored.

Do you think they could use your legs on a anti-smoking poster?

The wife of my sister's partner's colleague died falling off a ladder just a couple of months ago! Down near Bunbury.

It's why I'm considering myself very lucky.
I'm really upset I'm a massive skyhooks fan
Ive got another week & hopefully the swelling will be down enough so I can go for surgery.
Plastic plate in feet bones pined to it the at least 6 weeks till I can walk & I'm wondering how long till I can windsurf after that cause it's pretty hard on the feet in the chop .
But I'm alive just got to be patient.
