I think the big data companies are scraping profile data to see if you can be persuaded one way or another. They will then get the aligned people to saturate propaganda based on fear and hate for whomever would like to pay. The aligned people spread the memes, likes etc for free. They just try to direct the vote/vibe from the "persuadable" peeps to align with their client. Whether that be the fossil fuel industry, liberal party, religious groups etc.

They know your trigger points from the data points they have mined. Trump spent up to $1M per day on Facebook ads during his campaign. Mostly targeted ads and mostly about Crooked Hillary or the corrupt institutions in the US government. Triggered.

I just finished watching The Great Hack. Great show on how political campaigns are successfully run these days. Eg Brexit, Trump, most likely Morrison.
