If they are working more hours than usual, why shouldn't they get their normal pay?
If they were working 20% less each week then it would be warranted.

I think they have a disparate wage compared to other employees. Yes we want to hire good pollies hence the justification for a high wage but why do they need that much now.

Maybe you could donate 20% of your pay to the budget as well then.

I'm one of many that have taken a 20% hit. Mind you it's 20% of an avg income. Which means I feel it a lot more than high income earners, so I can't see why a group of high earners can't do the same?

Would you take a 20% cut if you were working longer than you usually did before CV ?
ie. working 60hrs instead of 40hrs but still only getting payed for 40hrs, then take 20% more off as well.

These are the times that essential workers are working harder and longer for the same pay as before.

Why cut their pay when they are increasing the pay of those staying at home and not working....as far as fiscal policies goes this is a contradictory policy. Money needs to be injected into a shrinking economy so it is no use removing money from those that are actually working.

You need to own a business impacted by this, 5 weeks on and I'm still paying every outgoing after requesting them to be halted whilst 68% down on trade, the job keeper sounds fantastic but is flawed on many levels
Its actually starving me of cash flow until we get rebates, not enough pressure has been put on banks to halt payments after all we need this money for is to pay them

Interestingly the Federal Govts definition of a "small business" is one which pays > $1.5m p.a. and hence the "small business" financial support seems to be aimed in this direction. So what is the definition and where is the support for businesses that pay well below this amount. My good mate only opened his new restaurant in December and they are pulling out every stop to try and stay afloat by "thinking outside of the box" with their business to get through. Poor pricks, however this would be only one of thousands of hard-luck stories out there.

Surely with schools being re-opened for business there can be some relaxing of the laws for restaurants and the like by limiting the square meterage and hence number of people being allowed to dine in a certain area. How can this be any different to having 30 children/young adults crammed into a small class room??

Our local pub is opening their bistro/restaurant tomorrow for lunch and dinner patrons, open thurs to Sunday starting tomorrow, seems things are on the improve.

In NZ we all know out pollies are working overtime. The fact that they all took a 20% pay cut shows that they are good bastards who empathasise with our country and the situation. Your Aussie politicians definitely lack that. Apart from that time that Scott fella was making people shake his hand after the bush fire. That was probably tue best thing I have seen an Aussie PM do since the time that old bugger sculled a beer.
