That's it. It's as simple as that.
Millions of people banging on about the secrets of longevity or weighing the right amount or feeling well, but all anyone really needs to do is eat foods packed with nutrients, kinda simple really. Gets a little more complex when you start balancing and tailoring to the individual, and there's also what's considered antinutrients to be aware of (see link below), although I would only see lectins as worth considering because they're the foods that have other obvious known effects.
If someone wants to make a nutrients per calorie app. you could blow the weight loss companies out of the water.

Is this like 'improving your immune system'? No real scientific proof, but people 'feel' that they can do it?

In the middle of this link is an illustration that makes it pretty easy to understand.
I'll dig up another that shows immune function

Nutrients delivered by a "healthy"
diet and the impact on the immune system through very complex systems is hard to "prove" via science - creating a hypothesis and changinf one variable at a time, trying to disprove your hypothesis and hence develop a better model. But we all know how we "feel" when we abuse our bodies. The hospitals are full of heart disease patients who have had poor lifestyle choices - even if a small percentage just got dealt crappy genes and were gonna end up there anyhow.

it is reasonable to assume a good diet with nutrient dense food is good for you and your immune system. Feed your dog just vegetables and see how long they last.

There's plenty of scientific evidence, but it's hard to find a meme that eloquently portrays the process.
This is the conclusion from a paper that validates afferent fibre treatment, and the link to the article.

Increasing evidence has demonstrated that the intestinal microenvironment dictates the phenotype of mucosal and circulating immune cells at steady state and during inflammation. Nowadays, it is clear that the interaction between the nervous system and the intestinal immune cells is of great importance in maintaining tissue homeostasis and in regulating mucosal inflammatory responses. In the gastrointestinal tract, the vagus nerve seems to play a major role in setting the anti?inflammatory cholinergic tone, via both a direct modulation of enteric neurons and an indirect interaction with splenic immune cells.

You got nothing huh? Your feel that your immune system can be improved without any scientific fact? Okay, good luck with that. You should become a social media influencer.

I learned the hard way about vitamin deficiency.

I scratched my knee on some coral. Within ten days I'd developed agonising boils. Three visits to three different doctors resulted in three courses of antibiotics. Which helped until the tablets were finished when the cycle started again.

The fourth doctor looked at my arse and said in his beautiful Indian accent " Oh my goodness we have to do something about that!"

So he ordered a blood test which picked up on a B12 deficiency. A course of injections put paid to three months of agony.

I now get a blood test every year.

Astonishing that one of the most common contributory factors in this current situation is Vitamin D deficiency. El Salvador got proactive and doled it out to the whole population.

Here? Nah!

B12 deficiency? Vegemite claims to provide 25% of daily requirements from a 9g serve.
And I'm glad that vitamin D isn't toxic since all I have to do is look out the window on a sunny day to make my annual quota.

This seems to align with the idea that as children we are better if we are exposed to pathogens, and the body learns to react, but not overreact to them. The current thinking appears to be that if we don't then the body over-reacts to certain things and we get 'allergies' to common substances.

From what I have read, being exposed to animals, e.g. dogs and cats, can improve the immune system in young children, and being excessively clean can reduce the exposure to these pathogens and therefore result in an immune system that does not respond optimally.

This needs to be done at a relatively young age. Once the body has learned how to react, it is too late, or difficult to change.

No, just to upset you, building your own forest and playing in it as an adult is not going to protect you from coronavirus. Its not the way it works, and this article is not discussing that.

I hereby formally rescind my offer for others to build an app. of this nature. After some searching, it appears nothing even close exists.
Nutrients per Calorie TM is my intellectual property.
I intend to progress this concept presently.
