Good question, id guess yes, just fly under the radar and dont bring attention to your self, if you have all the materials delivered already whats the difference between mowing your lawn of doing reno.

If you live at the address you should be OK. If not, then the fallback rule "stay at home" will likely apply.

Counter viewpoint is Australians in general are fairly law abiding citizens. It's a relatively very safe place to live regardless of covid. I think that's a function of less rats in a cage, geographical isolation and incomes are pretty good for now. The average digger can do okay if they are prepared to work. But it's a bit of a nanny state overall. I've read Canada are similar and their covid controls aare super strict.

The SA government lists the following businesses as essential:
- a bottle shop
- a tobacconist shop (or vape stores)

Then fortunately lists the following as an essential health service:
- drug and alcohol services

Covid business as usual where you live is not the case where others live on this shared planet. Different cultural views on life & death have lead to all manner of approaches to this pandemic. In other words, success or failure is relative, the numbers below speak volumes about how each country has approached this situation

AUS = 916 deaths @ 35/million
USA = 625,000 deaths @ 1800+/million

Certainly 'fun' is an interesting term to describe what my friends in both Cali+NYC have been going through. Not locking down is exactly what happened in the early days last year leading to many horror stories. Having worked/lived in both the places you mention, those shinning examples of American insanity hardly equate to what is best for greater humanity.

Where I live down under a death rate pushing 2000/million is not acceptable. Hopefully preventable numbers like this will never become normalised as it has elsewhere. If locking down for short periods continues to keep the death rate low, so be it.

You only have to look at the numbers to figure that out. Australia has around 25 mill citizens, the US has around 330 mill so scale of manufacturing kills most efforts here in Aus, and what does survive and prosper is swallowed up by foreign buyers often never to be heard of again.

Plus why would we waste our valuable time when we can get you Americans to do it for us, we view you guys the way you guys view Mexicans.

Really ? I don't subscribe to that. I see America as having the greatest minds / innovation on the planet but also pays a massive price for its capatalistic enterprise. You want the latest and greatest in research and development in just about any field then America is it. But as I said the price the average person pays across the board is damn high. It's a two edge sword. If there is a buck to be made then innovation transpires. But there is a social price to pay on the other side.

The very best and very worst exists in the US.

Commercialising patents made from Community funded research so the USA's equivalent of CSIRO.. = this triggerred the massive changes which we live with today.. As alot of other similar moves occurred across western style countries.

As 4 COVID behaviour... Another 6 mths.. Look back.. Get COVID without vaccine or get COVID with vaccine... Your choice nothing else on the menu.....

There is another sinister by product of Reagan's actions though. They basically made out there was a shortage in research scientists and that the wage of one would be no less than a million dollars within a decade. (There is some evidence by Brett Weinstein work that these numbers were manipulated).


So they flooded the market with Chinese National scientists with work visas who eventually stayed and had families, some surely still aligned with home interests.


what this allowed (apart from seriously eroding a research scientists wage) is china to have information access to the latest technology that a capatalistic democracy can produce and yet still run their country with centralised iron fist control (hence non of the by product problems a democracy can produce)

No I don't want Covid. You can't be too sure of your health until it's tested, but I'd take my chances with Covid over this life.

I think this has its roots from our wonderful WHS and public liability laws that came into existent in the past 40 years. I sometimes work with international people. After working here a few weeks, they say a similar thing.

I think this is the most likely explanation why most states are so risk adverse. Yep, sure they don't want this virus exploding, and they want their citizens to be healthy and happy etc.. but ultimately, they don't want to create a class action scenario.

However, this works to my benefit. I believe I am in the high risk group of becoming very ill from this disease. I support and follow all state guidance.

I've had man flu a few times and it's a nightmare.

Meehh.. Naah This was just post gang of 4 era. Long time back.. Chinese authorities actively getting rid of intelligenca.. ..

The point I was raising.. A huge amount of top end intellectual property was hitting the vaults. And that was it.. Dead in the water.. This encouraged the massive capacity to benefit by removing government sponsored legal action = foot on the brake.. To the opposite.. Foot on the accelerator.... = venture capital = spawning risk taking ...
