Looking to buy 125 motor scooter - not sure whether to go cheap - Torino etc or mid range - say Honda/Suzuki or high end being Vespa/Piaggio

intended use is very local only - no more than 2 ks from home - shops and beach only.

" you get what you pay for " - does this apply in this case ?

Any recomendations ?

I'm assuming your buying this for your wife? Because I don't think they make man scooters. See what she likes.

Ten trips to Thailand tells you Honda. There is no reason to consider any of the others.
Bigger wheels make for more comfort and safety, so usually that means ruling out the expensive ones, Honda will be the reliable 125

There's a bike I really want you to look at, I just can't remember what it's called.
Be aware that while a car might be newly run in at 40,000 ks. A motorbike will usually be dead

PS
The Honda CT 125 would actually be my choice if I was looking for something in that capacity and want to go off road every now and again

tt use to fit neatly under foot peg.
toped out at 105km would sit on 90km ok definitely not made for the high way.
I use to like mine a lot till the girl driving the ambulance reversed over it.

The super cub has issues. Made in China with substandard materials being the cause.

The Honda 50 step though is the winner of the most popular and almost indestructible scooter in the world.

Cant find the vid on it but it will run with vegetable oil in it and will still start after being dropped off a 10 story building.

That being said, I would go for a Madass 125.

I've never ridden a Sachs, they just look like fun, but after reading a few reviews just now I wish to rescind some of my earlier comments. And we're back to Honda. Just make sure you get one that's made in Japan, not that crap that's made under licence by Honda in China.

I was windsurfing at Elwood beach in Melbourne once and they were shooting a scooter for a catalogue and they came over to me and asked if I could stand in the background and hold my sail up so it could get in the shot.. They got my details and sent me this pic a few weeks later..

Having said that, I saw one in Japan and the geek rider was adamant that his was Jap made. So maybe they're out there if you look hard enough. Or import one.
