Anyone familiar with the little Suzuki 4x4s?

Looking at possibly a early Jimny or Vitara. Main focus will be chasing gutters up the beach.

Am I pushing things with a budget of around $5000? Want something that is not going to leave me stranded up the beach though..

Yay, nay?

The Jimny was a **** car with a **** name, I liked the Vitara, you could take the roof off. Most suzuki owners swear buy em. Sketchy on the bitumen.

any zook that doesn't have a cloud of Castrol R fumes following it, is too advanced for the Aussie market

The early 90's Sierras were weapons off road.
Power to Weight was awesome. Could get some good sized tyres under them with a small lift too.
$5000 well with in budget for a good one

^^Yep get a early 90's sierra and put a Suzuki GTi motor in it

Will embarrass a LOT of Pootrol and Lamcrooser folks.

Well, almost all of them......

Serious fishos round here have them for crossing mud flats between tides. Then the serious too much money fishos have those Yamaha rhino side by side atv things that they have to put on a trailer and tow around.
I bought my zook for the price of the atvs trailer (almost). Goes everywhere uncomfortably and buzzes like it needs an extra gear on the highway.

Dad had the long wheel base Sierra, would float over the deep soft sand that the big 4s would get stuck in. Don't worry about having an accident on the road, it's the last thing you will remember

Miniature 4X4s! That's going against the grain. To get around town with impunity these days, (and maybe do a little fishing) you'll need the Toyota Tundra.

oil injection, they have a separate tank, more than once I had service station attendants run out and tell me I couldn't use outboard oil in a car.

Blew a motor in mine once so purchased a s/h motor imported from Japan, wasn't sure how good the oil pump worked after I fitted it so I pre mixed the first tank. The pump was working fine so it got double the oil and I drove around town with a cloud of blue smoke following behind for a few days.

This is a good choice for school pickups, blocking other drivers' views when backing out of driveways, dominating car parks, and annoying other drivers in general. [thumbs up]

4x4 are great at T intersections when trying to turn left and some "me first" 4x4 driver pulls up alongside you and blocks your view, even thought they could have seen just as well if the had of stopped 2 meters shorter and allowed you full vision of all oncoming traffic.
