The wife may have landed a job in Bunbury. Old mate reckons why not live in Busselton and commute.
I thought I'd throw it out to the brains trust. I've got small kids so I'll need to be near a good school and I want to avoid being anywhere near government housing.

It's a long commute, maybe not by city standards but nothing helps with job satisfaction like living 5 minutes from work.

Wind is a little better in Bunbury , but not anywhere as good as Perth, Margret river can be good.

Are you saying you are a hypocrite as 'back then' you thought that it was wrong to stop you from hugging your grandchildren, and now because it suits you you are happy to move thousands of kilometres away, and hugging your grandchildren is no longer a priority?

I just want to gauge the level of hypocrisy. It seemed very important to you way back then, in what, July?

Personally, prefer Busso over Bunbury. Next to no waves in Bunbury, Busso is closer to margs/Yalls stretch. 50km straight road (30 min) commute may be worth it. As far as schools go aim for Cape Naturaliste catchment for state school.

I'm with Hilly for both town and school. I'd live in Busso over Bunbury. Most people would be lucky to live only 5 mins from work (although agree that would be nice too). 30 mins is not really a big commute is it...

I lived in Bunbury for 2 years. Lots of crew commute every day from Busso.
Wind is terrible in bunbury except for the storms and the inlet is worse. better to be 35min closer to margs or 20 min from Yalls for lots of TOW!

Busselton is nice Bunbury not so much

Busselton is a better standard of living and proximity to waves and better part of coast, yes it's 30 minutes to Bunbury for the commute but I would much much rather live in Busselton, also weekends in Busselton there is often live music and pubs within walking distance good beach fishing within town and half hour and near a few nice bushwalking trails/mountain bike trails.
If purchasing property as well it would be a better 10-20 year return due to proximity to waves.....

Bunbury to Busselton is not 30 minutes Maybe the Northest of Busselton to The Southest of Bunbury in 35 Minutes. Cbd to Cbd 45 to 50

Sounds like a lot of real estate dudes estimating drive times on here.

Busselton is nicer I agree, although I have never lived there, most of the time I lived at Peppermint grove beach half way in between the two towns. Nice place but very quite most of the time as many of the houses are holiday homes, and only 15 minutes from Bunbury or Busselton, if you believe the real estate salesmen.

If you surf, better to commute the distance and live in a close proximity to the surf than to have to drive a distance to the surf.
I lived in Bunbury for a few years and spent the whole time trying to transfer out. In hindsight, I would have rather lived in Bussleton than Boganbury and commuted each day. I believe the road is better these days?
What's a few days of the year of a bit of traffic, you should try the commute from the Goldie to Brisbane. I'm sure commuting from the outer "burbs" of Perf is probably just as bad.

Yeah but although over here we live in the largest state we don't understand the concept of a long commute. 20-30 minutes is frowned upon and +45 is ludicrous. The aim is 5-10 minutes

Lol. Well I live in Busselton. Port Geographe, West Busselton, old Vasse (Beach side of the highway) are the best town block suburbs. Kalgaritch is a nice bush block suburb in the middle of town. Geographe Primary School and Vasse Primary schools are the public schools you want to be zoned to - Port Geographe isn't zoned to either so I would be looking to private schools if I lived there. Cape Naturaliste College is the pick of the schools (I was a Head of Department at one of the private schools there - i'm not sending my kids to that joint. They make marks up for one thing.). I have some idea of the schools as I worked for 19 years there as a teacher and Head of Department in both public and private schools, and have been on both public school school boards, as well as one of the public primary school boards.
