Last year i gutted the front garden and stockpiled a thousand or so bricks to build a small garden / retaining wall but life has gotten in the way and now looking at the foundations needed i will need to relocate my fibre optic connection and goodness knows what else comes out of those green power domes. The wall would have been 900mm high which means council approval, loading up with more soil to level it and other unnecessary costs

The other thought i had was using limestone spalls (15-30cm) with mortar holding it together so it's only about 800mm high (no council approval needed).

So i guess the question to the engineers is would it still need the same amount of foundations and drainage? Its not really holding a great deal of weight behind it and would be around 12m long and go back 3-4m.

The question is:- Do you want this garden wall to be dug up to be discovered 20,000 years hence and for archaeologists to say, MDSXR6T built this???

Heh, well my wife **** canned it tonight anyway... Drew up some plans, showed her photos and ideas, worked out a plant list etc.

She didn't like the idea at all and wants to move the fibre optic stuff (not happening) so i destroyed my front yard, the retic and collected over 1000 loose bricks for nothing All because i didn't like the angle and shape of my front lawn!!

Oh!!! She who must be obeyed (I remember the marriage vows being the other way around ) has got into the act. Wish you luck buddy.

When the bride arrives at the church, she sees the aisle, then she see the altar and then she sees the groom.

So her last thought before the act of Marriage is "I'll alter him." Just the way it is.
