A big announcement tomorrow morning 1.30 am EST, any guesses?

Will be something confirming water or a fossel confirming there was once flowing water. IMO
Scientifically a big finding.
But the general population wont be all that excited for the news, i dont think it will be the "sexy" news of Aliens everyone is hoping/wishing for.

Although I'd love it to be something regarding Aliens, as I want to hear what all the Religious buffs have to say

It's got something to do with "seasonal" springs of water on the surface. Apparently during certain times of a Mars year, there are certain spots which will seep. They haven't announced anything of the sort, but one of the persons listed to be in attendance has been studying it for a few years.

(This information all from an IFLScience article which now that I search for it, has since been edited to simply announce who will be speaking, so take it with a very large grain of salt).

It might be Mars is changing its name.

Like when marathon changed to snickers

Great new ! Now that Joe Hockey is off to USA, Tony Abbott would be the ideal candidate to be sent to Mars. Just for good measure, a leather-bound Bible and a few sheep. A Shepperd indeed.

Since the permanent over 1 year presence was established by NASA on Mars, there is right time to claim this new land.
I think that tomorrow Mars will be proclaimed as 50's state of US emporium.

I think they will announce it once had water.
Then we will all go about our lives knowing that the fact it used to have water means nothing to the current state of the world / universe etc.

Or alternatively, that it is actually filled with 3 breasted women and the ad campaign will be "Get your asss to Mars" in an Arnie voice.

The last thing too happen could be mass refugees from Mars to overcrowded already Earth planet, and Europe in particular.
We don't need more beneficiary , looking for easy life and free food. But with green skin they will be even more difficult to blend smoothly into our community then Muslims.

So what do I think the big announcement will be?
A re- release of the song of course, but probably as a punk rock or rapper version maybe.

They have probably found water or evidence of it, perhaps even life within the water.
Whilst this may not sound exciting the entire total recallmovie was based on this.
They need to find the cave and push the button to melt the ice which will release the oxygen.

I for one will stay up to welcome our new overlords.

I am no scientist but shouldnt we be looking at the next planet closer to the sun not wasting time on ones that will always be too cold to live.After all isnt the sun going to cool down .

Any water at the surface today would have to be frozen, extremely salty, or thoroughly mixed with minerals, but it could still exist, scientists say.............................Vast deposits of water appear to be trapped within the ice caps.............. Some high-latitude regions seem to boast patterned ground-shapes that may have formed.............

Geez that's a lot to get excited about. I think they found some shiny lumps that then disappeared so they presumed them to be ice. I will continue to dream of a trip there the the 3-boobied ladies.

Maybe it will be more pyramids or faces that are easily debunked by photographers who understand light sources and shadow etc.

I predict that they will declare that they have found scientifically indisputable proof that we caused warming on mars that destroyed the climate.

You're highlighting semantics, they haven't actually found flowing water on mars as the headlines suggest, and they know only a little more than they did two years ago. The evidence two years ago suggested water on mars, the evidence today suggests water on mars. They still don't have a jar of water from mars.

No surprise there's a movie out about the same time about man travelling to mars. That is what this is probably about, getting support for a hugely expensive and mostly pointless and probably suicidal escapade into space.
