Yep, same here, I've tried knee pads, and they were a hassle, but only very cheap ones. I discovered an old wetsuit that had inbuilt knee pads, just not quite enough padding to spend all mt time on my knees, but for the odd take off good enough. I've made myself a very floaty 9'er. Mainly that catches waves early enough to be OK
I know it doesn't answer your question but humans evolved to eat fish, not deep sea fish like orange roughy or shark; too much mercury, but salmon and trout and whiting and shellfish are full of omega 3 which will feed the akkermansia that lines your gut and astaxanthin that'll repair your joints. Consider laying off the grains, no matter how many omega 3s you consume, the average diet full of omega-6 will nullify your efforts, that's why fish oil supplements generally don't work.
Yeh he's right above - still get the pads - but get rid of inflammatory foods. Sugar and grains - no more. I battle with dicky knees and ankles - had surgery on all four over the years. As soon as my diet - even for a few days involves sugars, grains AND processed oils - bang I'm hobbling like an older man. I also take omega 3 tablets and a dispirin a day when inflammation happens and I'm good after a few days. ..
take note of the processed oils - it's a relatively unknown poison we consume in most of our foods - although the cat is out of the bag on this one if you source information from more enlightened sources.
