Guy gives left over slice of pizza to son, so Toyota uses it as an excuse to sack him instead of giving him the redundancy payment he was due to get the following day.

www.news.com.au/finance/work/at-work/court-awards-nsw-dad-276000-after-finding-he-was-unlawfully-terminated/news-story/df95f626cae7a5ea49f7db9405e8b0b7

Unfortunately there's been a devolution over time:

Originally: Do the right thing
Later: Not only do the right thing, but be seen to be doing the right thing
Later still: Be seen to be doing the right thing (but don't worry about actually doing the right thing)
Now: Do whatever you can get away with (there's a right thing???)

Corporation are by nature sociopathic entities.

Which should be of major concern to everyone given that they appear to have the same rights as human beings.

And that they will eventually be the only form of business unless the madness is checked.

So with parts of America (I will use one example New York) they closed down all businesses except the major oligopolies like Kmart etc.

90 percent of businesses in New York are small businesses, the majority broke and will never come back... because someone said they can't work.
Guess whose buying up and filling the demand on these lost businesses.
but don't worry people, the multi generational borrowing from the future Ponzi scheme will have its day and sooner than you could imagine.

It funny how people just believe what the headlines say and get all offended over it. I guess thats why the headlines rarely resemble the truth, no engagement if the truth is rather boring.

It was actually about $1700 of personal expenses on his business card and toyota conducted a full investigation into the lot of it, which resulted in his termination. $38 of the personal expenses were found to be a full, seperate pizza meal for his son, not a slice, although that was his story. The main cost was a significant upgrade to his hotel room so his family could stay. There were also interest charges because he could not be bothered to clear his company card for over a year, hence the investigation.

I agree with the court that Toyota were being overly harsh in the withholding of redundancy and should have paid his full redundancy, but he was not innocent in the whole affair either.

So Toyota should have asked him to pay for the extras that he had incurred on his own behalf instead of acting like the corporate bully and sacking him.

I don't have enough information to form an opinion that's worth sharing on social media.

It was a bit more serious than that, cause, like he was busted stealing $1700 from his employer.......

May not be much to you perhaps but I guess you think the looting in the US is just peaceful demonstrating as well.

As I said I agree Toyota should have had some common sense, and just cut him loose, but its not as though he didn't breach company regulations....
