I bow down to the nutter that thought of this and the bosses from Emirates that though 'fark yeah, let's do it'.

Brilliant, like something out of a "Bond" movie.......I was waiting for them to board the jet and rescue the underworld king pin or kidnap the man with the secret formula.

And even their Safety Regulator. Would never be allowed in Australia,

Who else had visions of one of the jetpack blokes overtaking the airbus, his engine having a hiccup - and him being slurped up and spat out one of those ruddy great engines

Top marks though - those Emirates publicity wallahs certainly know how to do their job!

much more awesomeness than a bunch of kids running around singing.

I wonder what the fuel consumption on those jet packs is? And if they have tweeked the software, plenty of numpties on this forum will be outraged!!!

Way cool. Love to know what speeds they are doing. The A380 has its flaps out to full in most shots. Smart buggers.

230 Kts... At 11 secs in, the instrument on the far right (PFD), the numbers down the left side shows the speed.

I went digging, up to 730mL per minute per turbine and they get around ten minutes of flight. The wing has four modified hobby turbines.

Check out the RPM's on the P200 they use.

Yves Rossy did the english channel on one of those in 2008
He clocked speed over 125mph
The instruments on the A380 would of been showing during maneuvers.
when the jet packs were there it was full flaps down as ka43 stated, so would be much slower than 230knts maybe around 150knts

Would be interesting to know how fast the jet packs go. 125mph is 110kts and an A380 (even empty) won't be flying that slow with full flap in level flight.

Just found out my answer
They can apparently do up to 195mph which is about 170kts. The 380 empty lands at approx 130kts. So one is going slow as possible and the other b@lls to the wall. Still, it would be a hoot.
