so I was hoping someone could help me. On the outside of my toilet when the S pipe goes to the floor. On the end of the S pipe is like a ring and it's somehow full of pee, I've tried to flush it out with like vinegar etc, but now it's full of vinegar and not pee. Would any one have any ideas how to clean it out and prevent it from happening again ?

Are you in Australia? Different countries do these differently.

Stop pouring vinegar in there and/or stop peeing in there and that should stop the problem.

If its a normal Aussie type s-trap, you shouldn't have anything there because the s-trap ends below the seal, unless somehow the sewer is blocked.

Fill it with poo , then. Trowel it off on a 10 degree angle towards the outside of the pipe .... Problem solved !

Put a ping-pong ball in the bowl and aim at that.

Had a similar issue when I was in Darwin, the inbuilt S bent (porcelain) from the pan was leaking. The sewer pipe was a bit slow and it was full of water to the top of the drain? i believe..... there is a rubber seal that can be replaced but you need to run some soda ash in the pan (lot of it) to dissolve whatever is trapped below, my plumber mate told me that very often is fat as peep tend to discard old used oil in the pan?

Hey man. If it's holding water it's coming from above. Check the connection at the back of the pan where the cistern connects and the underside of the cistern for leaks. Use toilet paper if in doubt.
It smells like pee because the water is turning the crusty bits to liquid.

Hot chips will get rid of the vinegar.

The water/pee is sitting on top of a soft rubber seal. Just push a screwdriver down onto it and let the liquid drain away.
Use loo paper to clean it properly. ( Wear gloves. hold ya breath)
Spray it with bleach or something to kill the bacteria.

You've either got someone using the loo that has lazy aim, or the cistern is dripping water onto that seal from above. If so, then call a plumber.

'slap a new one in'... offsets? I guess some of the new ones have adjustable traps, but if its an old house they will be very different and drive you crazy.

I have a theory that a lot of these close coupled toilets have been designed to prevent the toilet seat staying up. Designed by a woman for sure!

I would argue though that if you have some fluid visible on the collar seal then you have a problem that a close coupled unit is just going to hide.

90/180 mm off the wall, I always get plumbers to silicone smear all fittings as an extra seal, a visual is always good , but doesn't cut it with most bathrooms today
