I wanted to buy a new big trailer and saw interest free offer from local supplier.

Why not . I thought,.

Why to pay full amount if can get this same item and pay whole year without additional costs ( almost) ....

Then during processing order this request pop up !!!!

So finance company now ask for your Customer ID and password to your bank account !!!!

Is it for real??
Can somebody at all can request such access?:? Maybe your Credit card and PIN number tooo?
How it is possible in country such as Australia ??
Did somebody really supplied finance company with requested information like that??
Obviously it may not be suspicious at all since finance company could be reputable Nigerian entity, operating now legally in Australia, but you never know....till you try it...

It must be legit .

Probably everybody here is already buying expensive surfing equipment , buy now pay later or never.

Just I was in the dark and didn't know it.

Here is response from my local trailer supplier:
" Hi there,
I have attempted to call you back. Yes that is correct. Under the BNPL (Buy Now Pay Later) regulations Australian finance companies can request a one-time access to your account- this is to verify the customer can afford to pay it back. It called 'Responsible Lending' and KYC ('Know Your Customer') and was brought in by Australian Government during reforms to the BNPL regulations in 2021 to stop banks and finance companies lending to customers that cannot afford to purchase.

It is a one-time access only, cannot be shared with anyone and the companies are under strict protocols and privacy regulations surrounding this. A successful worldwide company like ZIP would not risk their business by breaking your privacy.
However it is your decision. If you do not wish to proceed we can accept credit card. (note there is a credit card bank fee of 1.2%.) or no surcharge for bank account transfer....."

I hope thats sarcasm in your post macro. Im sure you know that your bank will remove any electronic banking security guarantees they might normally afford you, if you go ahead and give a third party your direct log in details. I've heard of it happening before, in this exact scenario.

Call your bank and ask them. There is no way I would give my bank account security details to any one.

We can all now see Macro's password is just dot, dot, dot, dot, dot, dot, dot, line which is pretty easy to guess anyway.

Yes it is very normal. Most lenders in this space won't give you a loan without it. It is completely legit.
