OK, I've been tasked by my missus to look into the 'best' inflatable SUP. I don't want to go to the sup page as I really don't need a discussion on the merits of a 'proper' SUP.

So my daughter wants an inflatable SUP to take on long camping trips where they camp e.g. Exmouth and Esperence, so calm waters. She uses a 'proper' one regularly and is a capable paddler. More for convenience of travel and packing into the ute.

Anyone bought a good one, and which are the brands to avoid.

Hi Julian, we caravan around and my wife uses a Red Paddle board, not cheap but I did mobs of research at the time it was our pick. They are thick and can catch the breeze a bit compared to a normal board but are great for travel and are tough.

I brought a 10 `Ride the Tide board.it only cost me $750 totally indestructible for a air board.why pay 2 grand for a good one,when this does the job Hey it's not a performance board or anything. It's for my other half.

Red and other well known brands (Naish, Starboard, Fanatic etc) are definitely better but if you want cheap you can't beat these and they seem very popular.

Because the little glued on stick looking bits that join top to bottom internally will separate on a cheapy, and without anything to maintain the shape it becomes a beachball, not a SUP.

What ever you go for slightly deflate it when not in use. Don't leave them in the sun. I know people that have had good ones delaminate or explode in the sun.

If you just want something for the family to muck around on a river or lake, they are great value. Easily carries two people, so the kids have a lot of fun with friends. I deflate to about 4psi when not in use and am happy with the purchase two years later.

Looks like a useful snow shovel is included too!!!

Seriously though for the price that's great especially for the once or twice a year holidays kinda user

A mates got one of the $200 kings one as well. He uses it as a fishing platform in the creeks and rivers.
He uses it 3 or 4 times a week and had it over a year now and is still looking like new, had no problems with it at all, and it gets a hard life and not looked after ever, leaves it inflated leaning against the side of his house as its used every second day.

Have heard of more issues with the more expensive one (3 times the price) than the kings.
But some people shop more for brands to look good in their insta pics

We got the BCF one on sale. Better shape than the Kings. Has had a fair bit of use over 2yrs. We keep it stored inflated enough just to hold its shape.
Best thing I bought was a $10 plug adapter to tyre valve so I can inflate with an electric compressor.
We often don't take the tender with the boat and just use the board, good stability and fast enough.
