I saw it 78.7c pl during the week, still in the low 80's before Easter long weekend.

Crazy prices, but who needs petrol. I filled up two weeks ago and fuel guage hasn't moved of full yet

Last week I saw fuel just out of Fremantle for 88 cents. I was about a quarter tank at the time and decided I'd wait until I got home when I'd actually need a full tank. It was $1.08 at my local that use to always be on fuel watch as being amongst the cheapest. I spat it big time (to myself only of course ).
It wasn't until the next day when I was still stewing on it did I realize how stupid I was being .

Im hoping the lack of lines at the moment is a representation that people on large are doing the right thing...

Yep, working from home has meant I use almost no petrol and if I really committed to it, I could use none and ride the bike to the supermarket for the next 6 months.

I wonder if the oil producing countries are doing it tough as the whole world cuts back on their consumption?

But since the first whisper that this mess in China was possibly going international I have been driving to and from work - to avoid the great unwashed [or maybe so the great unwashed can avoid me]
This 2 x car rego's + insurance + fuel isn't much fun on our single income, even with the wife's car getting 3 weeks to the litre at the moment

Think of the impact that all these grounded aircraft would be having on worldwide fuel consumption ....................... billions of litres of oversupply on the market

Just paid $131.9 for ULP and $141.9 for diesel this morning.

It was essential to keep my tractor going.

Yep still at $1.34.9 ltr for PULP at my local, it has come down by 30c per ltr but is still overpriced according to those that rule us.

I just hope the robbing bastards that run the petrol stations are finally experiencing pain like they caused us previously every time we used to fill up.

They sell coke at $3.00 a litre. All it is is sugar, water and some magic ingredient. All recycles. Comes down as rain, comes up as bamboo. We'll always get as much as we want.

I knew one fellow who owned two petrol stations who said he was lucky to make 2 cents on a litre of petrol or diesel sold.

The real robbing bastard is the Federal Government. It makes untold billions of dollars out of fuel sales & doesn't have to raise a finger to do it.

Yes I cried buckets knowing the oil execs weren't making their usual easter bazillions screwing over motorists, so sad.

If taxes are spent just on roads & hospitals then why do we have a federal government as large as we have? All those services or products you list are primarily the responsibility of state governments.

Sure, the GST was supposed to get rid of the begging but it didn't. The GST was also supposed to replace a bunch of state taxes. Again the GST did not. All it did was supplement the existing state taxes. My big question would be where does it written in the Australian Constitution the Commonwealth government is responsible for roads or even has the right to tax fuel used for transportation?

I'll be waiting. Crickets....

Lets just hear about the wonders the government does for us. How they are all wonderful people who are selfless, hardworking and incredibly creative. We will hear without them we'd all be running around with axes trying to kill each other. We need our wise overlords who have our best interests as their first priority.

The problem is we have is we have the seen. We have the hospital. Its seen. We have the road. Its seen. However what about the unseen? That money is taken from somewhere and the vast majority of it is taken from those just getting by day by day, paying the rent, the electricity bill and their tax bill.

The other thing is this corona virus has shown how absolutely hopeless they are when it does actually come to a crisis.

I think we've had this conversation before Moby, but just pay your tax and enjoy the lifestyle it provides you with or alternatively wait till these travel restrictions are lifted and move to a low tax haven to discover what lifestyle you will get for not paying tax

I'll ask the question again. If taxes are used to pay for hospitals and roads, which are state government responsibilities, why do we have such a large federal government? Why do we have an organisation collecting the cash when it doesn't provide the service? Why has the federal government taken on the responsibility to collect income tax? If taxes just paid for roads, hospitals and helping out those who need a hand, then most probably not so many people would resent the way things are going. Taxes pay for those things but along the way a hell of a lot of money ends up in undeserving hands.

Look up the history of income tax in Australia. Its not a pleasant story of everyone back 120 years ago agreeing the newly formed Commonwealth government would start collecting 30% of everyone's income. Its a nasty story of lies and theft. Today we live under a system of lies that justify theft.

Telling someone to clear off if they don't agree won't win the argument. Its basically saying "I have no argument".

You are probably already aware of it, but WA has a fuel watch or check app and website, so you can see what the price is for tomorrow. It seems to really keep competition in Perth on its toes. Having to nominate for the next day makes them think about the impact of warning the customer of prices in advance.

In NSW, the equivalent only offers real time prices and does little for competition, so we see higher prices almost always.

You're forgetting, Moby, that the federal government is apparently responsible for club houses and swimming pools.

PULP price has increased by 10 cents a litre for the weekend )not that we can travel anywhere) averaging about $1.45 here in Tassie, wow I'm so happy that price gouging doesn't exist.
