reminds me of the intriguing question "how far do dogs plan ahead?"

I don't know how far ahead they plan, but I know my sheepie doesn't remember back too far. Here she is barking to be let in when she just walked out through the bi-folding doors that are still open only 3 feet away.

Well, I think that answers your comment about barking at the door. You have a dog not clever enough to figure out the door situation but you also need it to think it's a sheep and not eat its flock.

For all we know its actually barking at its reflection in the glass door and thinking 'hey, how did you get in there, I want in too!'.
