Serious answer: facebook is slowly becoming 'oldies only'. The kids don't like it - precisely because parents/grandparents etc use it. They communicate via snapchat, instagram, tumblr, vine, tinder, kik, yik yak, and a bunch of other things you've never heard of.
Forums will always have their place, centred around the topic that brings people there, but also the sense of community. I recently bought a car for my wife, sight unseen, from a different state, at a very good price that was for forum members only. Because the seller had been on a specific car forum for 12 years, been to lots of get-togethers, was very well known in that community, I had a lot more trust of him.
and that is sad.
a 10 y/o kid mentioned Tinder the other day. Seriously - casual sex dating site they'd not use but because it is an 'app' it is cool and OK

and then the forum sale thing is tops! that's why I have no problems buying a sail from sombody here, sight unseen, money straight to them and never any issues
