Has anyone been to Gnaraloo recently and know what condition the track is in? I've got a semi off-road caravan and would like to know if it'll be alright if taken slowly or will I kill it?

Not having been there for quiet some time (few years) I would think if you took it easy, you would be alright with a 'semi off-road' rig. I have a friend who was there beginning of the year (I'm pretty sure he got there), so I'll ask him for you..

You've got a motorised caravan? Pics or it did not happen ;)
as for the track, last year was the usual, corrugated, but no real issues towing a 900-1000kg trailer in (single axle).
ring the station beforehand if you have any doubts.

Spoke to a bloke today who was there this week. He said it was fine...Compared to the Gibb River Road. Make of that what you will.

I took at 2wd 18 foot caravan to Garaloo about a month ago. I emailed gnaraloo a couple of days in advance to check road condition.

The most important thing to save your caravan is to let your caravan tyres down. I had caravan tyres at 15 psi and did about 40 - 50km per hour. Taking a caravan is a pain in the ass when you see 4wds flying past doing 90km/h but good once your there.

What he said. I drop my car to 22 and my jayco swan to 24. I have seen lots of things broken over the years - caravan windows from flex, microwaves and ovens out of their fittings from vibration, cupboards in pieces, and multiple boat trailers broken - and it all could have been avoided if they made it easy on their equipment with soft tyres. I did the Gibb last year with those pressures too. Just slow down for the rockier parts of the track and you will be fine. And slow down for the cattle grids.

I wouldn't bother contacting gnaraloo. They always say the track is fine even if it had three foot of water in parts. True story. Six hours before I got there I rang and they said it was fine with a "bit of water". I got a snorkel immediately after that trip as I found mud in my air filter the next morning. Scary stuff. So, yeah, they won't give accurate info. Rest assured, the track varies from annoying and painfully long, to really annoying and painfully long, but barring lots of rain it is always passable for a commodore driver with ambition.
