Ok, so who has had theirs removed?

I want to know how long recovery time is, and how your diet has changed since the operation.

And how old were u?

Also, any other gems of wisdom.

Feeling more geriatric than I should at 34

Hi had mine removed about 25 years ago and was an early key hole Guineapig .
Leading up to this I was in Un believable pain weekly.
Women who had the same experience said worse than child berth.
Short story is just do it I have had no issues since,.

People who put it off and end up with burst gall bladder suffer for ever ongoing mostly due to infection.

Key hole surgery - I was back at work in 4 days and that was way back then.

Thanks Warwick.

Sounds like mine is coming out tomorrow or Tuesday, just waiting in hospital until they can fit me in.

Yes was pretty uncomfortable leading up to hospital admission. Have u had to change your diet at all? I read that fatty foods can potentially cause upsets, and I love a scoop of chips, so hoping I don't have to give that up.

Had mine out at 28 via key hole.. Took me 4 days to get back out on my kite after surgery. Had 2 was off work thou..

Diet has less fats and oils cause ur digestion can't handle it as well.. Or u can eat what u like and get the runs when u go too far past what ur body can handle..

No change to my diet however I have mostly always minimized red meat and cut fat off things like bacon, eat fresh fish 3 times per week.

No problems with the occasional bag of hot chips, the odd pie, naughty afternoon snaks etc. Plus enjoy a little excess beer with the snacks. I justify the beer telling myself alcohol dissolves fat from the snacks.

I do excerise SUP PING a few times per week, kitesurf if we ever get good wind and supplement this with kayaking.

Cheers fellas.

Patto, I do not understand how you were back kiting after 4 days! I'm feeling slightly "tenderized", which is to say I feel extremely tenderized.

Cant imagine when Ill even be able to muster enough strength to put my socks on, let alone strap on a kite!

Maybe my surgery was a bit of a butchery fest in there.

My keyholes look more like rabbit warrens..........

It was a killer breeze that day and I was getting desperate to get on the water and also out of the house.. I was really sore for the first few days.. It's important to keep moving and not just be a vegetable while u recover..

Chris by the 5th day you should feel alot better.. and by the 7th day it should start to be a memory
But you just might be a slow healer. But if there is a lot of pain after the 7th day..go back to the hospital...

You might find fatty food an issue...but you might not..every one is different

Lord almighty....That was pain I NEVER want to go through again...
Better out than in...

Wife had attack, and gall bladder removed. Never want to see anyone go through that pain, it was ugly.
Her diet has changed a tad, fatty foods not so much on menu anymore.
Only one funny episode, one Christmas we were at a function, and normally she wont partake of a shandy, well this time she did, and a few to boot Then some good old Christmas food tossed in for good measure
Woke me at around 3am, complaining something chronic of extreme discomfort Headed her off to emergency for a check over.
Hmmm the level of effort from emergency teams correlates with the level of alcohol they presume one has had prior to arriving as soon as they get a whiff of ones breath
A few hours later, and a sober look to her profile, she was allowed home with a stern talking to from the head nurse on duty about consumption of festive goodies and a gall bladder removal recipient

Well its nearly 3 days since the op, and feeling lots better today than I did yesterday. Just gotta remind myself of all the work that went on under there, don't want to pop a stitch or anything by getting to over enthusiastic too early on :)

Just gonna approach the eating thing pretty cautiously, might be a good reason to eat a bit less, and think a little more about my penchant for junk food.

Could be the best thing that's happened to me for a while

I had two mild attacks about 11pm both times, then a really bad one, couldn't sleep at all, rolling around in pain, went to emergency in the morning & they put it down to gastro. Then I went to my doctor for a check up in a few days & the Doc picked it as gall stones straight away.
Got the Gall bladder out about 4 weeks later.
Took me 2 to 3 weeks before I started to feel normal again, didn't do much in that time as I also didn't want to bust a stich or something, but developed a constant pain in my chest, on the follow up visit with the surgeon, he put it down to normal bruising, & it started to go away the more exercise I did.

If I had to do it again, I'd get up & about sooner, seems to be the key to a quicker recovery.
