Yet another human disgrace story.

Why would they stop coming?
$400-00 a week, accommodation, food, cigarettes, medical, dental, internet with free laptop supplied, taken to shopping trips, the zoo and free phone cards to call all their mates over there to come to the land of the big suckers (us)! To top it a gov. **** scared to tell them to go back! Did I mention free legal aid. Wish as a citizen I could get half of that!

Of course no one wants an islamic dictatorship (or ANY islamic law) here like Iran (except maybe a few dumb angry young islamic men). BUT IT'S NEVER GOING TO HAPPEN HERE. This backs up how ****ful it would be to live under that. But if you agree that then you also have to agree that we ought to have some sympathy for human beings trying to escape that hell hole. How you you feel if you could get lashed for saying "Juliar" in this forum?

You can it's called the dole, medicare,legal aid etc. Giving them an old laptop and internet is cheap entertainment and communications that would otherwise cost more. I'm not sure we should be paying for ciggies however the context is that they are used as a reward to doing good things. Not like they're handing out cartons of the things. Considering 2 cartons costs about 1.4 million these days they are only getting 1cm of a ciggie each

I'll tell you all a true story of why I feel compelled to answer some of these threads and provide a moderate view.

When I was 15 I went off alone to see the world. It was kind of like a school 'student exchange' only some of the people that my family had taken in previously said 'hey come stay with us, go to school here, etc.' So off I went by myself with some people here and there to take me in.

One of the places I stayed was a friend of a friend of my mothers. We didn't know them from a bar of soap but they said hey you're a friend of xxx, if you're in france come stay with us in Paris for a week.

I arrived and they had the smallest apartment you've ever seen. 2 tiny rooms and a laundry/toilet/shower that was about 2m x 1m, you had to shower with 1 leg either side of the toilet. They already had 2 parents, a 10yr old kid and a 1yr old.

They looked after me really well and I saw lots of Paris with their son, and played nintendo with him at night. He helped me with French and I helped his English.

They invited me back, on the way back home to Oz to come a week earlier than planned and stay again. They were cooking me breakfast and lunch but after a while I noticed they weren't eating - why? Ramadan. I hadn't known they were muslim till then. They were still cooking me full meals.

They had planned for me to go see something in Paris with their son, and I said I couldn't. Why? I didn't want to say but I had no money left. Seriously had about 50 bucks left to get home on. They pressed on me about $60 oz which felt like heaps at the time. I kept saying no. In the end they said look, our religion says that to help someone in need is the best thing we can do in the world. It will make us really happy. Please please take it.

So I did, all went well, etc.

Moral is, total strangers took me in to their already overcrowded home and treated me like family at a time when I really needed it. This is the 95% of muslims that you don't see on TV. Things aren't black n white.

Absolutely agree!! - and I do mean that. You sort out the ones escaping all that shyte from the ones who wish to endow us with it and I'll supply the sympathy. If you want to see Oz in a decade then have a look at Britain (or more like Bitain) and Europe now. The mass global muslim migration (stealth jihad) cannot be compared to the Vietnamese boat people fleeing war, tyranny and communism (those last 2 are the same).

My heart truly does go out to the few, genuinely fleeing tyranny, looking for a new and better life. However, far too many coming from Islamic nations are hell bent on visiting their misery on you and I.

You come to Oz to start a NEW life - to leave the old life behind. If you come to be one of us, then warmest welcome "mate". No matter what you look like, what you sound like, if you want to become one of us, welcome! If not, get lost now!!

this is such a generational debate.
my parents came here from holland in 63. worked freakin hard, copped all sorts of crap in the 60s and 70s.
same with the vietnamese
same with the greeks & italians in the 80s
same as the chinese in the 90s
same with poms (well thats different )
now in the 21ss C its the arabs.

im not so sure much has changed , but maybe it just takes a while to get used to a new culture. us ausies are often afraid of changs.

There are moderate Muslims but there is no moderate Islam.

Islam is not a religion. It is a complete social and political ideology.

I'm not a "christian" , but your above statement rings true to me. Keep it simple, why complicate it. If you don't like it leave!! They wouldn't tolerate for a second our 'Australian ways' in their country.
As there is always 2 sides to the coin, I'm referring to that half, of the immigrants, that want to make up their owns rules, not the other half that are happy to abide by our ways and laws (without forsaking their own culture or identity). It's called mutual respect!

True this. I'm moving in with a full on Muslim in the next few weeks. We work away from home so we are going to be sharing a house during the week.

He doesn't care at all if I drink, smoke, go out all night to ...god knows where, etc. etc. Really. If we had a car here he'd pick me up.

He steps into each room right foot first (or is it left?), prays five times a day etc. etc.

Dude, you need to pick up a history book or get foxtel and watch the history channel.
When the Christians were burning books, burning people at the steak, and enslaving their women.
The muslims were translating and writing science books, developing surgical instruments and advance medicines, and fostering an environment of equal rights to all.
Without Moorish technology and science the renaissance may have not happened.

I for 1 would have much preferred being a Persian during the early middle ages than a European.

Europeans life expectancy was 1/2 that of the Moors... they didn't even know how to wash themselves and literacy was for the nobles, and Franciscans only.

Sure the last 500 years have been pretty pathetic, but before then, they were the ones who kept the light of progress lit.

Ummm, somethign like 70% of the USA congress identify as Christian, many of those very strongly so.

I don't see the American Govt circumcising their girls, stoning women to death for daring to be raped, or beating people for death for possessing an opposing religion's texts.

I don't see any such things in countries where Buddist or Hindu Govt's rule, so no it is not about when religious people are in power.

Feel free to take the p!ss about religion, but you can't say that Islam is just like any other.
