Just got a flymount for my birthday and was wondering how others mount their FT1/FT2's. Been looking at the instruction but would love to find out what works best for others..

Great camera and from memory the Panasonic has a central mounting point which I would suggest you mount via the hole nearest the baseplate screw. This style of mount is described in the manual (making sure you use the safety lanyard). Suggest you play around with it for an hour or so before using it.

My hot tip would be make sure the ball joint lever is tight.
Enjoy!

I have this mount with a FT2 - works great

Holds very well - I use it on the mast tip, about 10 cm down. Holds damn well.

Did you guys tap a small hole thru the silicone slip on case?

Anybody got any vision to post of this? I'm wondering it it's worth going for this for kiting as i suspect the lens may not be quite wide enough to justify bar mount for kiting.

Cheers.

EDIT:

Er.. obvioulsy you guys mount it pointing down - any kiters using the Flymount with a Lumix?

HAs anyone worked out the best way to do a helment mount for the Panasonic. I prefer to have the ability to shoot what I'm look at rather than a fixed position.

Yeh - keen on a helmet mount myself but not sure how that will fare..

I wear protec Wake Ace and would prefer a wedge shaped mount that sits slightly forward of the middle (half way between the small forehead peak and the middle (top).

The go pro sits proud right on top of a helmet and for my money that looks d!cky (hey i do a good enough job of making myself look that way) and also prone to getting ripped off (maybe not the Go pro but ceratinly the Lumix) in a big stack.

Man - I love this camera. Been taking fast sequence shots of water slides and skate park with squids and the shots are incredible for any camera - let alone one biased to waterproofing.

So cool.

I think I've worked out a way to mount it on the side of my Gath Helment (at eye level). Will need to go out and get some hardware this week so hopefully may have something knocked up for a test next WE. Will let you know how I go.

I generally use it without the gell protector - works fine. But recently started using it. I used a stanley knife to cut out a neat hole for the screw pin.

Here is some footage of me at St Kilda.... plz bear in mind that I am still a beginner :P

The video has been great to have a view of yourself to see what silly things you are doing - so has been great to help hone skills and make rigging adjustments - note I was using too small harness lines here.

Been looking for helmet mounts but have only turned up ridiculously cumbersome (and extended from the helmet) systems.

Looks like I might have to fshion sumpin myslef but time is non-existant lately (as usual).

What i'm thinking is a cheapish camera case and using velcro/cable ties to run through the Protec helmet's existing holes. Cables for the mounting wedge - velcro for attaching/removing camera/camera case.

What i need to nut out is a wedge shaped gizzo (similar foam - or a tad firmer - to the Protec's helmet interior would be nice) that supports the camera in the correct angle - but can be adjusted up/down in increments.

Wedge would need to be sculpted to follow the arc of the helmet but with a flat 'face' on it..

Ideally I'd like the top of the camera to be only slightly higher than the top of the helmet not sticking out like a periscop waiting to get smashed off in a face plant (wouldn't rely on Lumix's plazzy mounting thread alone either).

After all that i don't want to compromise helmet's protection (much).

If I edited out all my silly moments Kdog - I'd only have a few minutes left.
