Hi all very long time reader/never have I ever posted, however I have always enjoyed everyone's input and advice. I am very aware that the sea breeze hive mind is made up of majority males and I was curious if fashion/clothes was something that was important or considered in the surfing community as it has never been a topic that has been brought up before. The reason I bring this up is I was lucky enough to attend a You Am I / Jebediah gig at the Dunsborough tavern in 2019 as part of a wedding anniversary celebration with my wife. She made a comment that has stuck with me ever since and it has something that I am now aware of. My wife said 'you are with your people now' as in other surfers, wave riders, ocean people. Is surfing a fashion for you? does it dictate the way you dress? My wife made comment that you can tell the surfers from the way they dress and the strong shoulders and mostly lean physique . Is looking like a surfer important to you? I'm not talking about wearing Rip Curl t shirts and board shorts over the holidays. For me surfing is more than a fashion and it influences me outside of the water I enjoy keeping fit because I know it will keep me engaged when I am not surfing. I love skating because of the feels I get and the similarity to surfing. The music I listen to creates a surfy vibe in my head Radio Birdman Hard ons The Stooges all create a soundtrack to a life in the water on the beach when I am struggling with the reality of life being an employee a husband a father. Does anybody feel these same connections.

Same here, although I think that might be a 'yes' in response to the OPs question. I think his question was more about 'style' of dressing than 'fashion'. I know that family and other commitments don't necessarily let me got on the water as often as I'd like, but I still tend to dress as a beach bum around the house anyway, and like PezG suggested, that does induce a certain vibe that allows you to be 'at the beach' in your head even when youi're stuck at home doing husband duties or whatever, Sunny Boys or Gurus blaring out the stereo (which your kids refuse to use because for some reason today's youth are happy with music coming out of a 0.5cm tinny speaker on their mobile phone.)

Most of my clothes got holes and covered in resin. Is that a windsurfing look ?
