Ridiculous...at what stage does common sense and making your own judgement calls come into place??

Like a lot of the laws out there, society can only move as fast as the "slowest" members of the community.

Interesting to see how they intend to police these laws and to see if they will also make it apply to surf and swim sports as well.

As the article states - A high percentage of these deaths were mature men, on boats, complacent about the weather.
It will be interesting to see what the RLSSWA have to say about this as all the Skis and Surf boats will need to wear them.
Rowing Clubs at all the Unis and Schools with will need to wear them. Transperth Ferry goers etc...
Hopefully the sporting bodies (RLSSWA/WWA/KSWA/SUPWA) can get behind this and common sense prevails

Yeah we had this discussion in the kite forum for while. Highly doubt it will happen as you would like to think common sense will prevail. If not I hope there is a exclusion around surf breaks because good luck duck diving,.. but I guess we'll all be safer
