Have been looking at mirrorless cameras for a while, have found a Sony NEX-3F with a 16-55 zoom at a reasonable price ($270)
Any coments on that camera? I like it cause it is compact and it looks like it has good performances it is 16.5 Mpix. I have a film camera Canon AT 1 but not using it much anymore had a couple of "pocket" digital cams but did not enjoy dhooting with them very much. Any coments please.

It is probably a good buy as long as it is not beat up. Take a hand held test shot with it at a long exposure time (15-30 seconds) looking at a plain white wall with the highest ISO available. Zoom in on the picture and look for any dark spots. This will show up any dust on the sensor or any sensor damage. Mirrorless cameras leave the sensor exposed more than a DSLR when changing the lens.

I bought 1 for my daughters 16th she wanted it .
I was so impressed I went &bought myself one .
If you're into it its got smile recognition &auto takes photo when it sees a smile.
No complaints its got all features far beyond my taking photos.
But the kids know them all so I just ask them. Its great .
I had to buy another one so boys wouldn't touch hers .16 yr old girls can be funny like that .

Picked it up last night, will test at the weekend, did the white pic test recommended by Glitch, the owner was happy to let me do it, could not see any spots. Had a fast read of the manual and downloaded it on line.......... woaw so many things to learn! I am sur I will have fun again taking pics

Another question on cameras.

There are a host of action/sports cameras available now with wifi controlable from phone, mounts, 1080 resolution etc,etc for around $100.

Is there anything that makes a GoPro or Sony S100VR which cost $500 or more any better than the above???? GPS function is not important.

The possibility to use a range of high quality lenses is one IMO. I dont like electronic zoom, quality of the pic make it useless.
Also I am not intending to use it as a movie or action cam.... more still pics.

I have a 18 to 50 mm Zoom, seems to work well, the autofocus is a bit slow but I have to find the rite setup......... i am still playing with the massive amount of settings. I was biding on a 300mm mirror lens on fleabay but got ripped of at the last seconde looks like some peeps are using automatic biding software taht put a bisd in a few seconds before the end of the auction???? Still looking for another tele.
