Modern art only sucks if you have no context. As does any "classic" art, actually. There's nothing more boring than the Italian masters, to me anyway. Another ****ing religious scene? Really? People thought impressionism was rubbish when it first appeared too. People always think new things are rubbish.
Modern art
has to break the rules, else we'd be painting ****ing cupids and fat ladies forever. Most of it is going to suck while it pushes into new territory, and will be forgotten.
It's like music; people say music thirty or forty years ago was so much better than now, but that's only because you are cherry-picking the best music from an entire decade or more. There was
a lot of **** too; we've just (thankfully) forgotten it.
I've got an aboriginal piece, still not framed, and it looks really good. I like it. What more is there to it than that?
