Just like to send out a big "F@#$ you" to the prick that stole my bag, (which had my car keys, towel and sandles in it) while I was swimming at Coogee yesterday, lucky we had spare keys for the car and I didn't have my wallet with me! Thanks for the lifeguard for letting me use their phone.

Just a reminder to be careful with valuables at the beach, I was lucky we had spare keys, but had I taken our other car it would have been a real pain.

I was training for a big swim so in the water for about 1hr, the lifeguard said it was the second time in a couple days that people had their bags stolen from Coogee while swimming.

I really liked the suggestion from somebody on this forum (can't remember who) but hiding your keys and wallet in a used looking nappy placed next to your bag is a pretty damn good idea!

You could even have a couple of nappies (decorated with peanut butter etc for realism) and hide it in one of those, just to make them really work for it!

So long as they were not spying on you watching you plant the keys you should be sweet, right?

Craig66: Nah just me everyday Sandals.

4 years in Sydney and never had a problem, only reason I took the bag was my housemate that thinking of coming down and he knew what my bag looked like.

My Cousin suggested bike lock the bag to something, ok on a smallish beach bit hard to find something to lock it to on a wide beach. Anyway, shame these things happen, I will be getting spare keys for the cars and house now and leave the bag at home....Doh when I get a new one that is.

I've been using one of these key safe's from bunnings for 4 or 5 years now. Same deal I just lock my keys in the car and have a spare in the key safe on my towbar

The key holder advertised on this forum has served me well for more than 5 years... Takes the stress out of looking for inventive hiding spots....
