Hi all,

Some of you may already make use of our webcams, others may not even be aware of them - I'm finding that the level of awareness of the Networks existence is surprisingly low. None the less, there's a lot of information on the Kickstarter page so I'll keep it brief. I have a Network of (currently) 53 cameras around Australia setup for the purpose of monitoring the local weather. To date it's been almost entirely privately funded but unfortunately I can't continue that. I need to stabalise existing cameras and ideally continue expansion of the network.

I have had contact with people from this forum in the past - we tried to setup a camera at Wellington Point from memory but at the time there were some complications that stopped the camera going in. Moving forward though there's no reason why new cameras can't serve a dual purpose - we get to see the sky, you get to see the water conditions. For many cameras that's already the case.

Those cameras are great. They'd be useful to such a variety of people.

Couldn't see any in WA though :( , maybe one day.

One day very soon actually - I'm in Perth Monday-Wednesday next week for some commercial work and while I'm there I'll scope out a couple of locations that were offered to me over the last 12 months. One has a great view looking east to satisfy the storm lovers, the other was on Rottnest Island. With a bit of luck both are still keen to host a camera.

My partner is a school teacher and we have had some interest from local schools at least - if I was pro-active in contacting 50 schools I suspect a dozen of them would host a camera. Probably the main thing now though is to place cameras at locations where the view is not only wide and unobstructed to get that great sky view but that the foreground offers something of interest as well. The majority of cameras look over roofs and/or general suburban views - the most popular cameras are those that have a beach, bay or city view in the foreground. You still get that sky view but also cover a few other bases as well - people get to say bay/beach conditions and with the city views people will just look at them because it's a nice image. Mountain scenes are always popular as well. Obviously the people visiting this forum would have more of an interest in any camera that shows the water conditions and in that respect I'm always looking for people to work with to secure new locations that serve multiple purposes.

Hi all,

Just coming back to this - we've raised $6500 so far which is brilliant! We do need to get to the $10 000 goal though before Kickstarter will actually fund anything - if we don't reach that target we don't get anything. If anyone is able to help spread the word to people you think would be interested in the concept and to expand on it further, it would be greatly appreciated.
