A couple of years back I succumbed to the ravages of age and purchased a SUP.

Calm water paddling was as boring as bat guano and I referred to my board as being the equivalent of an aquatic walking frame.

Messing around in the shore break was slightly more enjoyable and fun for a while but quickly became 'meh'.

Made some attempts to get out back and tackle some slightly bigger stuff but found the bloody paddle a bit of an embuggerance getting in the way all the time and it was a long swim in to recover the bloody thing.

But my best experience with my SUP was helping lift it onto the roof of the car of the bloke who bought it off me, (even the grandkids didn't want it for free), no tears were shed as it disappeared down the road.

Ended up buying a 'long board' and although it doesn't get a lot of use I am much more at one with it than I ever was with the SUP.
