Spent 3 months working in Yesou last year. No kites but quite a few pole dancers out of the sailing club,

could be worth a surfboard and minimum 1 kite in case you have time off to shoot to japan or taiwan?

my friend surfed near the demilitarized zone a few times i think. fairly average, very cold. no people though.
start to learn taiwan forecasts for the cheaper option then japan...if you want any taiwan info pm me, or search as there are few previous threads here and in surf section.

are you ship/FPSO building?

There is not much swell around down that way generally but have seen surfers out in shoulder high stuff in Busan. Japan blocks a lot of the swell. There is plenty of wind though so your kites will come in handy. I have been there around May and September for a few years and wished I had gear due to the strong winds.
it is a bit cold though so a thick wetty will be needed, especially in Goje. There is enough wind to run a school on the island of Jeju.
Worth taking something for sure just be wary of large tides and strong currents.

cheers
