What's with Australian shops this week advising Black Friday sale? Don't miss out on the Black Friday sale. Grab a Black Friday bargain. Black Friday is what, a bush fire anniversary?
No, apparently it's the day after Thanksgiving. You're officially allowed to start Christmas shopping. Think I might start a turkey farm...
I have been thinking same... had to google to know what it was

I kinda rationalised it by thinking local business should compete with online stores that are flogging stuff super cheap coz some crappy US tradition which we will soon fully embrace

Yeah, would be good if local businesses put it under a uniquely Aussie banner to coincide. Or not.
Then you guys could call it "out of the red day", after all it's (black Friday) just an economic term for the day the retail stores actually start making a profit. It's actually kind of sad, assuming it's still true for most retailers, having to work for most of the year just to make even money at best.
Today is "cyber Monday", the biggest online retail sales day of the year. Tomorrow is nothing but the day after cyber Monday, so we are all in the clear until Christmas. Then it's into "the year in review" about this, and that, who died during the year, and all that stuff that nobody really cares about. Can't wait.
