Do GW's make it that far north? Would probably suspect something else...but i guess we'll know in due course. Hope the guy recovers quickly.

Nothing wrong with a bit of culling when the need arises. It's a two way street - one of ours for a few of them.

My opinion against culling GWS isn't a secret, I'm not buying into that but my beef is the media calling it a GWS when they most likely had absolutely no credible info supporting the claim.

Within a couple of hours of it happening, with no reporter accessing the remote location and speaking to witnesses or the dude hurt they are trying to talk it up.

I'm smart enough to know my anti-culling arguement loses ground with each attack, but lets at least try establish the species responsible first.

Rant over, had a chick from a regional media office flat-out lie to me today in an attempt to extract info on something that happended yesterday. Not impressed.

So if we do something about it this time will that still be a knee jerk reaction?

If so, how long do we need to wait before it will be considered not to be?
And by 'something' I mean something even just a little bit effective as distinct from anything that might have been done so far, which is obviously totally ineffective.

And for every shark there are way more morons... and morons kill thousands of sharks EVERY farking day.

Do hope he makes a speedy recovery, thoughts go out to family friends and persons involved with such a remote rescue.

With out over alarming anyone more of a heads up TODAY the swell was pumping 4ft Plus and glassy, it was overcast at Sunsets Gero.
I SUPed flat out from 7.30am till 9.00am with 3 surfers early, whom left the water at 830 ish, another paddled out as did another super

At 9.00am whilst looking directly out to sea some 100m i spotted a huge fin , it was also seen by the other SUPer. (GWS) with out any doubt.

The 3 of us left the water

Have to disagree with you. A shark is not a kangaroo (coming out at dawn and dusk) and will take a feed whenever it presents itself. With the rising population of sharks, it tends to be a matter of WHEN the next attack is not IF there is another attack.

Did you report it to Shark alarm

I didnt but the other person i was with Mr G SPOT was following up on it with authorities

The Authorities don't always alert reports. Shark Alarm will load it live letting others who check it know straight away. This site was set up by a frustrated surfer who discovered that the Authority's have been deliberately keeping us in the dark via shark sightings. The more support he gets the better for all of us
